I am a hobbyist potter and all things for sale on this site are made by myself. I work mostly at home around work/family life. I love hand building and throwing and experimenting with different glazes and textures. I usually make small batches of items and single pieces, but I'm happy to make bespoke items, larger quantities or repeat items if a buyer requests them. Just drop me a message and we'll work something out together! I have a small kiln at home and access to a larger kiln at a studio.

About

P Stratford Ceramics

Back far too long ago I first used clay as an art medium but didn't have regular access to a kiln or many glazes.

In 2015 I began experimenting with ceramics again, eventually buying my own glazes, wheel and second hand kiln. In the years since I have made things for friends and family and was encouraged to set up an Etsy shop by loved ones.

I enjoy making clean, functional forms as well as highly decorative and adorned pieces. I love taking a design brief and exploring all possibilities of form, texture and glaze. My work is inspired on the one hand by family life and the utility of pieces, and on the other by my interests in international development and urbanisation. I'm drawn to art deco influences and the Arts and Craft movement.

I mostly work from home around family life, but a few times a month I go to a studio to work and fire larger pieces.

I tend to make small batches of items and single pieces, but if there is something you like or want to discuss ideas for pieces then please don't hesitate to get in touch! I love working together to realise a piece.

I first worked with clay back many years ago, but over the past few years have become much more ambitious and adventurous with the medium. I love make functional pots as well as more conceptual pieces. I'm inspired by the urban environment & travels.
