About

Jim Swallow and Joseph Spencer provide Enamel Supplies and Tools to Artists.

I am a professional photographer and digital computer artist educator.
I made my first dollar as a photographer at age 11.
My personal web site is
www.JimSwallow.com
or my new work can be found at
www.PhotographyOnGold.com

My wife Cheryl Anne was friends with Lois and Joseph Spencer for many years. Cheryl Anne always had fun playing in Joe's studio. And of course buying antiques from Lois's antique store was a lot of fun. Lois is in heaven now, but Joe at 90 in 2016 is happy working in his new studio.

After Cheryl Anne and I married, Joe asked me to be his professional photographer. Little did I know that I also would be playing in Joe's studio.

Joe's considered a pioneer in the art of torch fired enamels. His students have come from all over the world. He's taught since the 70's. Using his original bead pulling station, enamel work stations and unique enamel frit mixes he has helped artists with their creative endeavors. To learn more about Joseph Spencer and his work you may visit this site
http://www.torch-fired-enamels.com/

Joe and I work side by side making tools for torch fire and kiln fire artists that love painting with fire. A term used for artists that create their art using intense heat and of course fire. Many of his students now do this full time and some of his students that you might be familiar with include Barbra Lewis and Pam East who have continued in Joe's foot steps in helping promote the love and art of enameling.

Joe has 12 color mixes that he has used in all of his workshops since the 70's. In 2015, my wife Cheryl Anne started creating her own colors for fun. She loves making gifts for her friends and family. Everyone of course has their favorite colors. After some of the artist using enamel saw Cheryl Anne's new colors, they wanted some.

This year, 2016, we continue providing new tools for torch fire and kiln fire artists. We have several new enamel glass frit mixes coming out and new tools which will make artists smile.

Its been quite a journey and great learning experience. I am very blessed. I hope that if you've purchased items or plan to purchase items from my shop, I hope that you will be blessed also.

Sincerely,
Jim Swallow
