Welcome to Rachel Joy Studio! Through my paintings, I hope to share my joy and appreciation for the beauty of the animals we love and the land upon which we live. You can find me on the weekends painting outside with my easel up and down the Southern California coast.

I am a professional artist specializing in acrylic and oil paintings. I turn to my love for nature and animals to fuel my creative expression. Nonverbal communication and connection have both fascinated and encouraged me. I find the relationship with animals (and humans of course...not to discount that) to be enriching in that a lot can be said just in a breath of a moment and often without words. I can let go of the cares and concerns about the past and the future when focusing on the beauty of nature in the present. I am often drawn to pet portraits, animals, landscapes, and plain-air painting alla prima (completing a painting in one sitting) for these reasons. I first opened my Etsy shop almost a decade ago to share my daily painting challenge, but took a break to focus on life demands and other priorities that have grown and shaped me into the artist an person I am now. I am happy to be returning to Etsy to share my new works and get them to people like you!



Commissions: I am currently taking only a select number of commissions per year. I am limiting commission to oil paintings 8” x 8” pet portraits of one animal per painting using high-resolution images. If you are interested in this type of commission, please message me with the photo you would like to use as the reference.
