Hand Painted Watercolor Paintings, Commissions Available

At PAINTING THE SKY KINGDM I use watercolor to create paintings. Most often I am inspired by nature’s beauty. Whether I find subject matter in photos, from memories, or elsewhere, I enjoy attempting to paint these beautiful things so that others might experience them as well.

I have been painting seriously for just a couple of years now. Before using watercolor, I spent a few years drawing with graphite and colored pencils. I have tried acrylic paint and Oil paint as well. But right now I really enjoy improving my technique with professional watercolor paint on cotton paper.

If you do not see anything that is quite right for you in my shop at this time, I invite you to "heart" my Etsy shop and come back and look at my art from time to time to see my new paintings because my technique and subject matter changes. (Don't forget to look at the SOLD paintings too - some of my newest paintings are selling the quickest!

As true for many, when I paint my right brain becomes active (the right brain communicates with symbols and images more often than words and logic.) This can result in a story appearing on my paper as I paint. Parts of the story may not be obvious even to me at first. But if I am aware of the symbolism of an image later when I post the painting I will explain what it means to me, in case it resonates with others. (Similar to dream therapy, art therapy can be therapeutic and helpful towards the process of becoming whole. )

I often include endangered species in my paintings because I find the flora and fauna of our earth beautiful and hope that by bringing awareness to what we are at risk of losing others will be inspired to live more sustainably.

More of my philosophy and about me:
I think that beauty guides us for a reason and that many of us are meant to seek to bring beauty, serenity, and happiness into existence. And as Joseph Campbell once famously said "follow your bliss". Similarly, Bashar, says "follow what excites you". While what creates bliss and excitement may not be the same for all, for me, it is necessary to paint, paint, paint, (Although I admit that I do get art block rarely just like most - usually when I am tired and need to rest or eat.) The beautiful colors of watercolor pigments flowing with water on cotton paper are the best anti-depressant I have ever found!

Due to the situation with viruses in our current world, I am working full time creating art (I have a side job as a nanny that provides me with a place to live, which I am very grateful - the family of the child I care for lost their income due to the economic downturn which resulted in me focusing on selling my art.) My art supplies and other expenses now come from what is sold on Etsy. I am grateful that my abilities have improved to the point that people are choosing to display my pieces. I feel sometimes I am living a dream come true. This is new, and challenging at times but amazingly seems to be working out. I have truly begun to believe that once you find your true path, many things in life begin to fall in place.

Please contact me if you would like something special painted for you, a friend, or a loved one. We can chat and decide if it is something I can create at a price that will be satisfactory to you. (My art is actually quite affordable considering I am selling original art here on Etsy. Also, I am starting to have some prints available, see the front page of my shop).
