Recent Feedback: "Words cannot express how fantastic Emma's hobby horses are!!!!!!!!!! I purchased 3 hobby horses from her in the Spring of 2012 and my boys have been playing with them ever since. One thing you always worry about with an outside toy is durability. Not to mention how tough boys can be on toys. Well let me tell you that these horses take a beating and they still look fantastic. They love to drink water (ie take baths in kiddie pools), they've been left in the rain, baked in the sun for months on end and dragged along a cement driveway and the only damage they have is minimal, and I do mean minimal, paint wear from the concrete. I do not advocate treating these works of art this way but I wanted to share my testament to their durability. after a few months I decided to work with Emma to create this custom horse for my son... This horse is so perfect!!!!! The craftsmanship and attention to detail is unreal and he literally exceeded my expectations!!!!!! Truly!!!! I'm a stickler for attention to detail and perfection and he is more than perfect...Every kid should have one of these hobby horses. There is literally no one I've ever come across that creates such fantastic hobby horses, no one but Emma. And I'm certain I will be back for another soon. Thank you so much!!!!!! :)"

Welcome! Here you will find an assortment of handcrafted wooden hobby horses, coordinating playsets and accessories, and unique equine artwork printed on canvas. I make everything exclusively myself, out of my small home in Maine. No two horses are exactly alike, and each has its own personality!

My philosophy is that toys should encourage children to use both their minds and bodies, which inspired me to design, create, and make available this line of beautiful hobby horses. Stick horses encourage their young riders to make up their own adventures instead of being contained to a script, and can carry them outside into a world of exploration, exercise, and imagination. These painted ponies have become important to me because they will take whatever spark of imagination and love for adventure that a child has and nurture it - and at the same time help them in developing healthy habits. The colorful, realistic designs appeal to kids and the creative themes inspire activity. My special horses are all individually handcrafted, a completely original, personal creation. They are a wonderful toy, a unique gift, and potential for the very best of friends.

Stretching Legs and Imaginations
Growing up, I was outside. Every day. If there was a sun in the sky, what was the point of being under a roof? Television was only for when I was sick or if it was a special occasion, and I had no problem with that. I spent hours exploring the acres of forest around my home, building shelters and making up stories for all the wildlife I encountered. I had a whole herd of stick horses, made from gathered twigs and my father's discarded work gloves. Some were tall, for jumping, some had shoelace "double bridles" for dressage, and some were stuck all over with feathers for when I was fulfilling my role as an Indian scout. I made up my own adventures wherever I went, and every outdoor moment was full of joy and life.
As a result, my philosophy is that toys should encourage children to use both their minds AND bodies. This is the driving force behind each and every one of my original ponies. Stick horses encourage their young riders to make up their own adventures instead of being contained to a script, and can carry them outside into a world of exploration, exercise, and imagination. After years of riding and owning my own horses, I have the opportunity to pour all of my adoration and excitement for horses into these hobby horses, hoping that it will take whatever spark of imagination that a child has and feed it. I have the privilege to work on each horse individually, instilling into it all the memories I have had from my relationships with animals and my great love and respect for each of them.

I generally ship standard mail, because my horses are such an akward, expensive thing to ship to begin with, but am open to priority or express shipping on occasion. Just convo me and let me know, I'll do my best to accomodate!
My horses are packed with an extensive amount of bubble wrap and care, to ensure safe delivery. Horses come with an attached tags, including description of the horse's 'personality' and a signed note from me.

Custom orders are welcome! I can fill custom orders in two ways:
*Personal Ponies:
Send me a convo, with a photo or photos of a horse you would like me to paint, and I will create a stick horse in its likeness. Please include a clear head shot. I encourage clear communication and will not begin work until I know you are satisfied with the concept. Price varies per horse, according to amount of details, tack, markings, etc.
*Pick-Your-Own Ponies
Please convo me and include the following:
~ head/neck color
~ specific markings (blaze, star, dapples, etc)
~ mane length and color (black, brown, white, cream, red, and more)
~ specific tack (bridle, hood, rein covers, harness, etc.)
I am also willing to paint names, dates, or other information on the head or stick. Ten characters maximum please. Price varies per horse, according to amount of details, etc.
