About

For the love of reading....

I'm an avid reader and as I started working on my own novel, the one thing that I noticed was how expensive a great book cover can be! That's when an idea hit! I designed my very first book cover and fell in love with the process.

I began freelancing as a graphic designer years ago, doing many things, including business branding. But, it was when I started designing book covers that everything clicked into place...this is what I was supposed to be doing. My love of reading, and books in general, made this a perfect fit.

I've since worked with many terrific authors and publishers.

When I'm not designing book covers, I enjoy reading (obviously!), watching far too much TV, collecting Funko Pops, spending time with my family and crazy animals, and working on my very first novel.

Frequently asked questions

Do you design custom book covers?

Yes, I do and I love custom designs! The majority of my work is custom cover designs. If you'd like a custom design, please send me a convo that includes what type of design you're looking for.

How long does it take for you to design a book cover?

Well, that varies quite a bit. If you purchase a premade design and you've given me all of the required info (Title, Author Name, etc) I can usually have your cover ready within 48 hours. If you've ordered a custom book cover, it really depends on a lot of things, like collaborating until we agree on the actual design, the back and forth of looking at mockups I've created, etc. It can take days, it can take weeks, it really depends. If you have a hard deadline for your cover to be finished, please let me know upfront.

How many revisions do I get when I purchase a cover from you?

I offer unlimited revisions...yes, you read that correctly, UNLIMITED. Basically, I will work on your cover until you're completely, 100% satisfied. I don't charge any extra fees or hourly rates for revisions.

Can you change a premade cover to suit my story?

Why, yes, yes I can :) If you see a premade in my shop or on my website that you love, but it doesn't quite fit your book, send me a convo and tell me what you need. It may require you to pay a bit more than the advertised price for the changes, though.

Do you have a portfolio and, if so, where can I see it?

Yes I do! It's on my website: http://www.ampersandbookcovers.com/portfolio.html

Please excuse the mess, my website is in horrible need of updating! There are a ton of new works that hasn't been added yet.

Do you design print cover spreads?

Yes, I do! If you've ordered an ebook cover from me OR if you already have an ebook cover you purchased from another source, with the required info (formatted page count, trim size, paper color, etc) I can design a spine and back cover to go with your front cover, otherwise known as a print spread. If you'd like to purchase that, please go to the Add-Ons section in my shop and add the Print Add-On to your cart.

What do you need from me in order to design a custom book cover?

Well, obviously, the basics: Title, Author Name, Series Name, etc. But, most importantly, I need to know what you'd like your cover to look like. It helps if you tell me the genre of your book, whether you'd like characters on the cover, setting, tone, all of that, basically.

If you have a specific color pallette you'd like me to use, by all means, share! If you already have a design idea in mind, I want to hear it!

The more details you can give me, the better :)

What do you do with all the unused designs?

Well, when designing a custom cover, I usually make several designs to show the author/publisher, these are called mockups. The author/publisher usually chooses one they like and we go from there to perfect it to their liking.

That leaves me with a lot of unused designs, which I've spent good, long hours on, just sitting in folders on my computer. I turn a lot of them into premades to sell in my shop and website. I usually change some things, especially if there are elements that were very specific to the original custom design needs.

So, if you're ordering a custom cover from me, know that I reserve the right to sell unused designs in my shop and website.

What if I don't want you to share my new cover until my cover reveal??

That's fine :) I usually don't share any new covers on social media until I've seen the author/publisher share it. However, I do add new covers to my portfolio on a semi-regular basis. But, no need to worry about that! I don't think enough people look at that to spoil your cover reveal :)

But if you'd really rather I not add anything to my portfolio until you've revealed your cover, just let me know.
