About

"The stories we love best do live in us forever..." —J.K. Rowling

We're building a bookish community on social media! I hope you'll share your photos of your bookish lifestyle on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with #mybookishlifestyle. I'm especially interested in how you integrate your love of books into your daily life in your home, your travels, your school, your work, and your play. (If you include your J.H. Tatroe products, all the better, but it's, by no means, necessary.) Now, more than ever, we need to build and celebrate a community, a nation, and a world of readers, building empathy and tolerance one book at a time.

======About Jenn======

Jennifer Hemphill Tatroe graduated from the University of Illinois in 1995 with degrees in English and Rhetoric. After stints in the publishing and tech industries, a volunteer position teaching art to elementary school students ignited her interest in visual arts, and she founded J.H. Tatroe Salvaged Book Goods (then called Palimpsestic) in Seattle in 2010. She now resides in Windsor, Colorado with her husband, Kevin, and son, Hadden.

Jenn is an accomplished writer with more than twenty short fiction credits. She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2008. Her background in writing and literature plays directly into her current work with upcycled books, fueling her interest in the relationships readers form with iconic works of literature and the memories printed words stir in an age of digital media.

All of Jenn’s products are created from used books, acquired from library discards, used book sales, thrift stores, and secondhand bookshops. She seeks out mass-printed books in poor condition, in an effort to keep their stories alive for those who have read and loved them in the past.

    I was the kid who begged the babysitter to please, please just let me sit inside with my book. Now, I'm a little more balanced. I hike and dance and play games and make art... but the books still go all those places with me.
