Pretty much what I expected, but I did not pay attention to the height when I bought the plans. The sturdiness absolutely supports adults, but it sat too short for me after building it. I had to duck significantly to get underneath it to access my desk and closet. I am 5' 10". So, I put 16" risers under the legs. This made it kind of unstable. So now I'm in the process of reinforcing it with cross braces. Overall, great instructions and I found what I was looking for. It takes a little bit of going back and forth to figure out which boards go where, but it beats spending $2K on a prebuilt.

Totally recommend! I knew I wanted a Queen lift as it’s for a 14 y/o but was not able to find one anywhere except a big change (starts with i and rhymes with Kia). I’m so glad we chose to build ourselves. It’s super sturdy and it looks amazing! Kid is counting down our move in date so he can sleep on it. Def measure out your room… ours is a super tight fit but… makes it even sturdier. 😀 buy your plans now and get to building.

PS owner is amazing at responding questions.

This is an amazing and well laid out plan for a sturdy loft bed. We’re looking forward to building this for our youngest family member.

Was a great starting point for us to make a loft bed for our son. We used 3/4 plywood for the decking instead of the 1x10’s. We also reduced the cost of the build by using lag bolts in place of all of the nuts and bolts- we understand the benefits of the nut and bolts install but this build will out live our sons stay in the room and as our kids leave for college the younger sibling can move into the room. Over all good instructions, would recommend better explaination of where the smaller parts go that are not assembled in the prebuild stages of the instructions. I was sitting on the bed deck helping my husband attach the rails when I realized where the ‘extra’ 7-1/2” pieces went. We also had to trim a couple boards because they would not fit for the top rail.

My current bedroom is only 9x9, and I didnt want to downsize my queen bed just to have more floor space. I started to look for loft beds online, but none of them were within my budget. Then I came across this loft bed plan, remembered one of my colleagues makes furniture on the side, and everything fell into place. Materials came out to ~$525, but probably would have been less if I hadn't stressed about the bed being strong and stable.

Underneath the loft, the support beams for the bed sit 54 1/2 inches off the floor. This perfectly fit my desk, monitors and gaming chair, as long as I mind my head standing up and sitting down.

All in all this is a very well designed loft bed plan for adults that I'm very happy with!
