I have been a weaver , dyer and teacher for over 30 years. I create blankets, wraps , scarves and pillows with my handwoven fabric and sell my work primarily through direct contact with customers at juried craft shows and in my studio in Dunedin FL. I also teach workshops and classes in dyeing and weave design both locally and at national conferences. I am excited to now have the opportunity to expand my audience through ETSY.

When I approach the loom , I think of each piece as a canvas where both sides of my brain can play. I have a BS in Textile Design from Philadelphia College of Textiles and this technical background allows me to explore complex patterning and to use the qualities of various fibers to achieve specialized effects in my work.

Dyeing on the other hand, lets my artistic side soar! I love color and most of my weavings begin as a cone of white yarn. All my colors are mixed by formula from 3 primary colors. Sometimes I dye skeins, other times I paint the warp yarns and occasionally I will dye the fabric after it comes off the loom. I'm looking for the balance of color, pattern and texture in each piece.

There is something special about touching a hand made item. Perhaps it is a transference of energy from the maker to the user. I know I enjoy holding a hand made mug in the morning while I sip my tea or putting on my favorite scarf when there is a chill in the air.

Thousands of yards of yarn have passed through my hands over the years. From my hands to yours, I hope you will feel the pleasure I took in creating each of these handwoven pieces.
