For the love of Gem Rocks - Pamela's Desert Rocks

Rock obsession started when I was around 4 - gathering all the stones I could find on nature walks. Then it really got going when my uncle went to Africa and I asked him to bring me back diamonds - he brought me a rock collection instead.

Over the years I learned how to make these rocks into gem rocks to wear. Attended the Silvermine School of Art and learned that I loved breaking rocks instead of metal work. Took a little detour as a lawyer and corporate executive but always made my jewelry. Took the plunge more than 7 years ago and made my love into a business. Kept hearing about Etsy and started my shop January 2010 and I am loving this supportive community of artists and fantastic customers!

My canvas is inspired by nature - a wonderful sunset, the flash of color on a hummingbird or lizard, the bright beauty of a cactus flower - the desert is so amazing! My artist's soul has truly found its place here in the Sonoran desert where I go hiking looking for rocks, chip away at them in my home studio on an ancient wood table and then handcraft jewelry to showcase these wondrous rock creations of nature!

Rock nut, sucker for the sparkle and lover of all of the arts. Tried violin (loved it!), drawing (a disaster!), lawyering (ok but missed working with my hands), cooking (my other love - don't tell the gem rocks please!) and jewelry making (yay!)

    All Around Helper Mom

Ok so I blame Mom for my obsession with rocks and ultimately having the Pamela's Desert Rocks shop! Thanks Mom for the encouragement! She is a very talented artist herself - drawing, painting, sewing and jewelry making.
