About

I cant help but make things

I have always been creative, my mother insists on displaying my early artistic attempts, at some point I will have to accidentally break them all. I began with Air Drying Clay it seemingly got into my blood and fell in love with Ceramics at school, my art teacher said he needed a conveyor belt to keep up with me. I set up a studio with kiln that I unglamorously had to set my alarm at stupid hours of the night to go out to the studio cowering from the night spiders to the studio to poke around with the kiln for its night firings, this I was told by said mother was when I had to fire as it was the economy rate at daft o'clock. Seems I am wired to create, my late Grandma was a textile designer and there is a strong dose of Artistic ability and designers and engineers in the family. I have worked worked in Stained Glass Mosaic, Resin, Jewellery, and handmade Skincare products.

I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Three Dimensional design and am a qualified Lecturer in Art and Multimedia Design.
I have worked in various Schools and Colleges and particularly loved teaching Ceramics to less-abled adults, including blind and those with learning difficulties.

In 2005 I became a full time artist and threw a couple of kids into the mix. I work from my rather lovely home studio and am always armed with my camera when travelling for inspiration.

Hello and Welcome please take a look around all Paintings listed are Original Hand painted one of a kind Artworks not prints.

I'm inspired by Nature and have travelled to some amazing places around the world. I strongly believe in trying to limit do my bit to protect the Environment and Animals. I'm a long-term Vegetarian and supporter of all manner of Ethical and Animal causes.

My Artwork is all handmade by me in my lovely home studio. I try to reduce my impact on the Environment and that is evident in my practice.
I only use the finest quality Artists Synthetic Paint Brushes, Hair brushes are as bad as wearing fur.
I paint in as chemically safe and pleasant a manner as possible, my studio and cleansing room is free of solvents. I try to use alternatives to potentially dangerous pigments where possible.

My paintings are all made to Archival "Museum" quality, this means that the material your piece is painted on and the pigments it is painted with are proven to have very long-term stability to prevent fading or yellowing.

Oil Paintings- your piece is painted on top quality Cotton Canvas with 6 individual layers of Artists primer individually painted then sanded followed by a final coat of Oil Lead primer , Lead is the very best (and most expensive!) ground to give a perfect finish and ideal surface for your artwork to be painted on. I use only sumptuous Archival handmade Oil Paints.
Watercolour Painting are painted on Arches Artists Watercolour Paper, Acid Free and without artificial whiteners. I use the very best quality Watercolours giving vibrant colours and strong fade resistance.

With all my Oil and Watercolour pigments I have spent a long time researching the best pigments and only use those with proven excellent light fastness that will keep your paintings looking vibrant for a lifetime.
