Announcement    *** I am currently sold out of most items. I've slowed my shipping time to give me time to rebuild inventory. Thank you for understanding***

My full line of handmade wooden toys can be found at www.papadonstoys.com - not everything listed is available for online purchase.

Thanks for visiting my shop! Papa Don's Toys makes heirloom-quality natural wooden toys for babies, toddlers, & preschoolers. I am a second generation wooden toymaker working from my family's workshop in Oregon's Coast Range mountains. See the About section to learn more.

We sell directly to the public at select local craft shows and have a much larger selection of toys at these in-person events. You can find out about upcoming shows and view our full line of toys on our website at www.papadonstoys.com

Customers may wonder why I don't offer free shipping on orders of $35 or more. Here's why. Wooden toys are by nature heavy and bulky which means they are, unfortunately, more expensive to ship than plastic or plush toys. To add the average cost of shipping into the purchase price of my handmade toys would mean that customers in the Pacific Northwest would pay more for shipping than the cost and customers living in other regions of the U.S. would pay less than the actual cost. It's important to me to be true to my values. The shipping on a product that has to travel fewer miles should cost less.

Please make note of order processing/ shipping times before ordering. The time between when you place the order and when you receive it varies depending on where I am in the production process. Select RESTOCK REQUEST to automatically be notified when I've built more of your favorite toy if it is not currently listed. Thank you for supporting handmade in the USA!

Quality, hardwood toys, made fresh daily!

My dad ("Papa Don") started making toys for me when I was a baby. He and my mom soon realized that there was a market for heirloom-quality natural wooden toys. They launched Papa Don's Toys in 1973. I grew up working in the family wood shop and selling our toys at craft shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. After a stint in Alaska, I came back home to Oregon to take the helm.

As a second generation toymaker, I'm happy to be continuing my family's tradition of providing children with a safe, durable, and eco-friendly alternative to plastic toys.

I make the toys primarily from red alder, also called Oregon alder. A non-toxic, food-grade mineral oil finish brings out the rich, warm glow of this beautiful hardwood. The wood is non-splintering and I carefully sand all edges to a smooth finish for sensitive little hands.

The colored paints are non-toxic and safe for babies and children. The paints have been independently tested for lead, heavy metals and phthalates and they exceed federal safety guidelines for children's toys. Our pull cords are made from 100% organic European hemp - unbleached and undyed.

I hope my toys bring much joy and delight to the children in your life.

I've always loved making things with my hands. I appreciate fine craftsmanship and I strive for quality & beauty in my own work. When I'm not making toys, I enjoy being in wild nature, following my curiosity, quilting, landscape gardening, & cooking.
