Papaja - Pyry´s and Anneli´s workshop
Papaja is jewelry company located in Helsinki. We specialize in making and designing custom made engagement and wedding rings. The name Papaja comes from the words Pyry´s and Anneli´s workshop (workshop in finnish is paja).
Papaja started in Fiskars, Southern Finland, in 2000 with the name Sparkling J&S. The premises were located in Finland’s oldest machinery workshop, established in 1837. Among others, the first steam boat engines, the Saimaa canal’s iron gates and bridges, and numerous farming machines were made in the same building.
When the company moved to Helsinki in 2005 it was renamed Design Aaltonen Tamminen. The company continued with the new name on Nilsiänkatu in Vallilla in the building where the Orion drug company had been located from 1933 to the early 1960s.
In 2008, the company moved to their current location on Agricolankatu by Karhupuisto into the street level of a 100 year old building with the condominium association Seura. Well known people like Oskari Tokoi, a politician and journalist, have also lived in this building.
In 2009, the company was renamed Papaja. The name comes from the words Pyry’s and Anneli’s workshop (workshop in Finnish is paja).
Couples, especially those looking for unique custom made engagement and wedding rings, have discovered Papaja on Agricolankatu.
