About

"I wish I'd known you make urns when I needed one."

After hearing that phrase one too many times from friends & acquaintances who had been disappointed by commercial urns choices limited in both originality and quality, I began brainstorming about Paper Turtle. Although I had been making urns for more than 15 years as part of my larger body of ceramic artwork, it wasn't until 2016 that I decided to focus my funerary work into a separate business.

I feel honored to help families select the best urn to celebrate the lives of their beloved family members and pets, hopefully engaging with a small part of their grief process by offering personal, compassionate service together with urn selections that encompass individuality, beauty, uniqueness, and excellent craftsmanship. Every life is a work of art.

Please visit liveclayart.com to see more of my ceramic art, and shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/liveclay.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Personlize your urn with the addition of names/dates or meaningful text, selection of specific imagery or colors, size and shape. Fully custom urns with my design guidance are also available. Prices vary according to size, deadline needs, and design complexity. Please convo me or email laura@paper-turtle.com to discuss options.

Sizing details

Listings include size, weight, and capacity (volume in cubic inches) for each urn. With regards to capacity, to help customers select the appropriate sized urn for their needs, it is common industry practice to allow one cubic inch per pound of body weight (i.e., 144 ci for an individual weighing 144 pounds or less). Variables including body type as well as temperature and method of cremation may cause guideline.

The dry weight calculation is 1 cup = 14.4 cubic inches.

Care instructions

Clean ceramic urns with a soft, damp cloth or dusting fabric. Clean biodegradable urns with soft cloth.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All ceramic urns are double-boxed to ensure safety during transit. I use only biodegradable fill and recyclable plastic bubble and cardboard packing materials. I am happy to include a note card with a special message per request.
