About Paperperennial

Sales 395
On Etsy since 2015

In planning a wedding, I found a passion.

In the course of planning my own wedding, I discovered my passion for making paper flowers. I love the beauty of real flowers, but I was interested in having something different for my wedding. I looked at silk and real touch flowers, but everything I saw struck me as fake. I realized that I didn't want to try to fool my guests; I wanted to show them something new to make them wonder. I was inspired by nature and other artists to develop linen paper flowers. When I broached the idea with my fiancee, he loved the handmade, personalized nature of these paper flowers. Our mothers have been friends since we were in Kindergarten and we literally grew up together, so we wanted our wedding to reflect the personal closeness of our families. On the day of our wedding, the flowers became the talk of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, and guests. Well, that and how happy my husband and I looked.

As a high school English teacher by day, my passion is helping students creatively unlock the secrets of literature and communication, and I incorporate that love of literature in the descriptions of some of my bouquets, named after my favorite female poets and authors. But in planning my own wedding, I unlocked a new passion for designing and imitating nature's beauty. With nature's creativity to guide me, I get to use my imagination to make ideas not only come to life, but last far longer than a real flower could. My wedding bouquet sits in a glass box on the bookshelf of my workroom looking as beautiful today as it did when I said my vows.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging

I can definitely include a special message/card for any gift orders. Just let me know what you'd like to say, and I'll be happy to include it, no extra charge!

Custom and personalized orders

The great thing about paper flowers compared with real flowers is that you can customize almost anything about them. Have an idea or theme that you'd like to see come to life? Let me know and I will look for special papers/patterns. Want to mix and match different flowers with different products? Not a problem! I welcome the opportunity for creativity.

Care instructions

No special care is required for our flower creations. Typically our papers are acid and lignin free to lessen fading, yellowing, or breakage over time. They have no reason not to last forever without any special preservation techniques. We do suggest, however, that you store them in a location away from direct sunlight to prevent accelerated fading.

Sustainable shipping

Did you know that 30% of U.S. waste comes from packaging materials? We try to do our part to prevent this by reusing packaging materials donated by local schools and businesses whenever we can. While we will never put the safety of your purchase at risk, you may receive your item in a repurposed box or with a variety of packing materials included inside. If for any reason this is a problem, please let us know in your order notes. Thanks for helping us do our part for the environment!
