From P-3 Orions to Par 3s.
Nací en Chicago y me crié en Clarksdale (delta del Mississippi), donde las charlas en el porche eran más divertidas que cualquier especial de comedia y a nadie le impresionaba casi nada. Llevé esa actitud a la Universidad Estatal de Norfolk, jugué baloncesto para los Spartans y en 1996 ganamos el Torneo CIAA. ¡CONTEMPLAD, el Verde y el Oro!
Después de Norfolk State, enseñé matemáticas en la escuela secundaria y luego en la universidad. Después, me alisté en la Marina de los Estados Unidos. Pasé mi carrera pilotando aviones P-3 Orion en todos los frentes, gané un par de Medallas Aéreas y terminé como Oficial de Enlace Aéreo en Oriente Medio y el Sudeste Asiático. Regresé con historias que prefiero guardarme para mí.
En 2020, el golf me encontró. Resulta que me volví bastante bueno: en 2024 gané el Campeonato Nacional Palmer Flight del Circuito Amateur de Estados Unidos y fui nombrado Jugador Nacional del Año del Circuito de Jugadores Amateur. Todo en la misma temporada. Lo digo con la humildad de quien ha mandado la bola a la casa de alguien con un golpe tan desviado.

I was born in Chicago and raised in Clarksdale (Mississippi Delta) — where the front porch talks were funnier than any comedy special and nobody was impressed by much. I took that attitude to Norfolk State University, played basketball for the Spartans, and in 1996 we won the CIAA Tournament. BEHOLD, The Green And Gold!
After Norfolk State I taught high school math, then college. Then I raised my right hand and joined the U.S. Navy. Spent my career flying P-3 Orions — every theater, a couple of Air Medals, finished up as an Air Liaison Officer in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Came home with stories I mostly keep to myself.
Then golf found me in 2020. Turns out I got decent at it — in 2024 I won the Palmer Flight National Championship on the US Amateur Tour and took National Player of the Year on the Amateur Players Tour. Same season. I say this with the humility of a man who has shanked a drive into somebody's house.
