About

Creating art is my way of spreading happiness

Hello! I am Patricia Vargas, owner and artist of Parima Creative Studio.

I’m currently based in the Inland Empire, CA (originally from Oxnard) with my husband, 17 year old puppy Roofus, and our newly adopted tabby cat Arya (from G.o.T). I’m a giant Harry Potter fan, and a Hufflepuff. Tacos are my favorite and could eat them every. single. day. I’m currently learning Italian so that I can take my dream trip to Italy one day.

MY BEGINNINGS
I have been painting since I was 10 years old. Growing up I would often watch my mother create these beautiful landscapes and I was amazed by her talent.

Naturally, I wanted to be just like her and expressed my interest in painting. She bought me my first paint set and used it as soon as we got home from the store.

I remember creating my first painting on a small canvas panel. It had a yellow background with a simple vine of flowers (I still have it!).

After I had finished painting it, I ran to my mother to show her my grand masterpiece. She praised my work, as any good mother would, but it was enough encouragement to keep making.

I later graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Art. I began my work as as web and graphic designer.

But life has a funny way of redirecting our paths. After four years of doing design work for private clients, it no longer fulfilled my creative needs as it once did.

In 2012 I returned to my art, and decided that this was a good a time as any to pursue my life long passion.

I officially opened Parima Studio on January 22, 2013. It’s been a crazy ride right from the start, and one that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

ABOUT MY ART:
As a bilingual, I always joke that painting is my third language. Not only is it a way for me to express my extroverted side (hello big bright colors!), but it is also my time to practice gratitude and being in the present moment. This is a practice that I try to carry with me throughout my personal life.

I achieve this by focusing on the art of making. Everything around me melts away as I focus on what I am creating and the tools that I'm working with.

I allow each brushstroke to become my inspiration. To determine where the next markings will go. Quickly and instinctively layering and weaving colors. Leaving the most interesting natural brush patterns untouched, while adding complimentary drips and shapes.

I never really know where each painting will take me, but like a good story, it transcends both myself and the viewer into a world of color.

And the story told in each painting is as unique as the viewer themselves.

About the name:
The name Parima is actually a combination of my name, my sister’s name (Arianna), and my mom’s name (Maria). They are two of the most important people in my life, and I would definitely not be where I am now without their unwavering support and endless love.

Frequently asked questions
What is the processing/shipping time?

Prints that are 13"x19" and smaller will ship within 3-5 business days (weekends and holidays do not count). Prints that are larger than 13"x19" will ship within 8-10 business days . Canvas prints take 10-12 business days to ship.

If you require your order to be delivered by a certain date, please contact me and I will be more than happy to work with you. Please note that a rush fee of $25 may apply.

Can you crop the image so it can fit my frame?

As a general rule, you should wait until you receive the print before you buy the frame.

The sizes that are offered are the sizes that are proportionate to the image. I will NOT crop my images to fit your frame. Sorry! I hope you understand. It takes a lot of time to create the one-off special file. Plus, it pains me to cut out sections of my artwork.

However, if you are really set on cropping it, I would recommend purchasing the closet size print to your desired size, and take it to a local print shop or FedEx/Kinkos to have it cut down.

Another option is getting a custom mat opening made with the desired size. Then you can play with where you want to "crop" the image.

Can you change the colors on the print?

I cannot change the colors on a specific print. They are as they are. But, if you need a painting with a specific color palette, I would love to create a custom piece for you. Custom paintings start at $425 for a 16x20. Learn more about the process of my commission process at http://parimastudio.com/pages/painting

I am currently not accepting any custom animal print orders.

I live near the area, can I pick up my order?

That's awesome! I love knowing that I have some local fans! Unfortunately, at this time I am not able to host customers in my workspace.

Can I buy the digital file of the print so I can print it at home? I promise I won’t share it, or sell it.

It's good to hear that you are a good hearted person, and you probably won't share it or sell it. But my files are an essential part of my business. It's how I make the prints! They are like my babies, and I must protect them any way I can, especially in this digital age. Sorry the digital files of my paintings are not for sale. And if I were to sell my images, they would cost a significant amount more than the print price ;)
