About

I am Sherri Jackson, the woman behind Park Soap. I have been a soapmaker for almost 20 years.

While I initially chose a career path in law and finance, I've always been most fulfilled when engaging in creative and hands-on endeavors. I believe this comes in part from growing up in rural Ohio, and coming from a long line of farmers, homesteaders and artists. Launching a soapmaking business has allowed me to combine many of my creative interests and my career background into one pursuit.

I’ve spent many years simplifying my life to create a healthier, happier me - from the items that fill my home, to the products I put on my body. I seek out simple, gentle, organic, sustainable and ethical materials.

My generously sized soaps are carefully handmade in micro batches in the heart of Oregon. I strive to use the highest quality, organic and sustainable ingredients available. Park Soap is free of palm oil, synthetic fragrances, dyes, sulfates and parabens and is proudly committed to environmental and social responsibility.

Packaging: I try to use minimal packaging to lessen the impact of my products on the environment. My soaps are wrapped using recycled and recyclable materials and you can opt to have your soaps delivered "wrapper-free" to further reduce waste. My shipping boxes are either recycled or recyclable, my bubble mailers and shipping tape are made from plant-based materials (including the adhesive!) and are completely biodegradable and even compostable.

I encourage you to re-use, recycle, and re-purpose these materials.

Where did the name "Park Soap" come from?

When I started this company in 2013, I was living in Brooklyn, NY in a neighborhood called Park Slope (so named because it is situated on a downward slope from the west side of Prospect Park). When I relocated to Oregon, I chose to keep the name in part because I liked it and couldn't think of anything better, and partly because I think that "park" brings forth ideas of nature, rejuvenation, and finding an oasis in the midst of everyday hustle and bustle.
