Was on my daughter's wish list, she likes vintage things like this.
An Appreciation for Objects from the Past
In 1977 we began searching for vintage and antique items to furnish our 1910 home. Our first big purchase (and we do mean BIG) was a large armoire we found at a week-end antique flea market. We decided it would be perfect for our dining room, but we could not figure out how we would get it home since we only had a tiny two seater sports car. The seller explained that the piece was a traveling wardrobe which could be broken down into about 16 smaller parts. It was amazing! We drove home with the top down and the pieces of our new armoire jutting out from the back seat.
We have always had an appreciation for pieces with a bit of built-in history...everyday objects that were used and cared for by someone from a past generation. 36 years later we still enjoy searching flea markets, estate and tag sales for new finds.
Since we are both semi-retired, we often take road trips with our little teardrop trailer, and in between camping, hiking and relaxing, we hunt for new treasures to list in our shop here on Etsy.
I love vintage fabrics, sewing notions, and linens with handwork of any sort. I enjoy collecting items related to school and teaching. Some of my favorite finds are classroom group pictures from any era.
I am drawn to vintage industrial items that are usually found in workshops and garages - tools, parts drawers, oil cans, and just about anything handmade with wood and/or metal.
Mary's mom, Jean, contributes many items to the shop. She has been an antique dealer for several decades, and at age 85 continues to work at a local antique store.
