About

So, What's A Vintage Seller Do, Anyway?

I'm not one of those Etsy featured shops that have a unique studio or a loft in an old red brick building downtown in which to photograph myself hard at work creating. That's because I'm one of Etsy's vintage shop owners and my home, more specifically my den and dining room table, is my work space.

My small den is where most of my inventory is stored. Let's take the guided tour. The closet is stuffed full of linens, hats, packing and mailing supplies, and clothing, some in failed space bags (you know the ones that leak and won't stay flattened). Periodically, the space bags attack me as they fall to the floor. My desk is beside a window and I have a view of the smoggy mountains beyond the tree branches. Behind my desk chair, but in front of the elliptical machine, I have a clothing rack full of long dresses. Behind the elliptical machine are bookcases with boxes of scarves, jewelry, odds 'n' ends, books, mailing supplies, stacked linens, you name it. They're labeled so I don't forget what's in them! The most time-consuming activity (but interesting, I admit) is the hours of research. I've taken the vintage pledge that everything I sell is at least 20 years old, but most things are much older. I research pattern names, company names, dates of production, designers, names and logos, shapes, everything I can find in order to offer you, my customer, the very best item and information that I can find. You're worth it! I measure everything on a massive wooden dining room table. Most days it's not a pretty sight. Every item listed is recorded and stored. Glass, dinnerware, etc. is bubble wrapped and stored in the garage. To take it as a whole in its raw, unpolished state, it really isn't very impressive. It's really more like 'hoarder lite' without an intervention. Ask anyone who sells vintage and they'll tell you that they love it, but no one would ever, ever, ever admit to hoarding! It's known as collecting.

I love shopping for you and will never misrepresent any garment, accessory, or otherwise. I'll share with you what I know. When I'm not sure of an item, it doesn't get listed. Integrity is a precious thing and I'll always be honest with you.

That's my process and my methods. That's what this vintage shop owner does.

Now, let's go shopping, shall we?
