5 out of 5 starsI ordered 2 sets of cookies; each set came right on time, with no broken cookies. This review is for the second and third set of cookies I have ordered from Pastry Tart, and despite knowing exactly what I'll get when I open the box, they still take my breath away. They're really gorgeous. Thank you!

5 out of 5 starsI never knew cookies could be both so elegant and delicious. I ordered these as place cards for my wedding. They arrived in time in perfectly beautiful condition. I can't say enough how much I loved these cookies and will hopefully find a reason to buy from the pastry tart bakery again!

About PastryTartBakery
Necessity really is the mother of delicious invention!
My son has a peanut allergy. Not a mild one, either. In elementary school, his kind teachers would phone me a few days in advance of in-class parties to let me know I needed to bring something in for him he could actually eat (because all of the local bakeries produced contaminated goodies).
So I baked. And I decorated. (Because plain cookies are booooring). Other mothers took notice and began asking about my cookies, so I would bake for them, too. Life was bright and lovely and beautiful.
Then my husband lost his job during the economic downturn and was unemployed for 18 months. We had some savings, but like many other American families, bankruptcy and foreclosure was looming on the horizon.
With no realistic job prospects for me (I had been a SAHM for 11 years), I prayed...and listened to the wonderful supportive words of friends and family who encouraged me to turn my cookie-making passion into something that would put food on the table for my children.
After a lot of research, snapping a few photos, and two weeks of anxious waiting, I received my first Etsy order. How empowering, to finally feel back in control of your financial destiny!
Today we are in a much better place than when my Etsy journey began, but I don't think there is much in my past I would trade in for an "easier" experience. (Though winning the lottery would be nice!) Thanks to our hardships, my husband and I have a rock-solid marriage (he uses his professional expertise to give me wonderful advice on how to be more efficient--the Achilles' heel of we creative types, you know). I've learned a whole lot about how strong and independent I really am, and I have the freedom to raise my children *and* do a job I simply adore.
It's tough work with long hours and I'm not quite financially independent...but I'm rich in so many other ways now, and that's something money can't buy!

CANCELLATIONS: DOMESTIC orders may be canceled without penalty if notice is given a minimum of 31+ days prior to your requested delivery date. INTERNATIONAL orders may be cancelled without penalty 41+ days prior to shipping. NO REFUNDS on orders cancelled within after these cutoffs. Once an order has been baked and/or shipped, there are absolutely no refunds.

***** ORDERING INFORMATION *****
PRODUCTION TIME & SCHEDULE
Orders are placed onto the production schedule ONLY upon receipt of successful payment (or deposit for large orders). Cookies are baked fresh and decorated a few days days in advance of cookie shipment date to ensure absolute freshness. Total production time is usually 3-4 days. (We want that icing to dry enough for safe shipping!) This does NOT include time for shipping.
QUANTITY DISCOUNTS:
Order 60-119 cookies and receive a 15% domestic shipping discount.
Order 120+ cookies and receive a 10% discount on the cost of cookies. (Package upgrades and other extra services are not eligible for discounts.)
MILITARY DISCOUNTS:
Orders sent to *military addresses* receive a 5% discount regardless of quantity--and thank you so much for your service! :)
Sorry, discounts cannot be multiplied.
RUSH ORDERS: If you need a rush order (less than 10 business days in advance of necessary shipping date), contact me to check on availability. Fees for these orders are $20 or 20% of order cost, whichever is greater. For orders required in *less than* 5 business days in advance of shipping date, fees are $30 or 30% of order cost, whichever is greater. These fees are to cover the cost of overtime required to suddenly add additional unplanned load to the work day/week, especially if it has to fall on a weekend.
** Be aware that rush orders usually will require overnight shipping, which is extremely expensive, so for the sake of your budget it is best to plan and order well in advance!
Shipping
Tracking numbers/delivery confirmation is included in your shipping fee.
Any difference in shipping costs between estimated and actual rate at time of shipment in excess of $5 will be refunded to you. I do not pad my shipping costs to make extra profit.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS are shipped via USPS International Priority Express Mail (5-8 days) or FedEx Global Express (1-5 days) only, to ensure maximum freshness and lowest cost to clients. All customs taxes and duties are the responsibility of the purchaser. Please keep in mind that some countries have very strict import restrictions--let me know your country and I will do my best to let you know if I am able to ship baked goods with minimum risk of delay to you from the United States. I properly fill out all customs documents required for your country and hold no liability for any delays due to customs. My cookies are considered "Non-Perishable Foods," so usually are not a problem to most customs agencies. :)
PREFER UPS, FedEx, or DHL?
Contact me prior to purchasing if you would prefer this option so I can correctly calculate domestic or international shipping and set up your custom listing with the proper rate.
ORDER PACKAGING
All possible care is taken to ensure the safe transport of your baked goods so they arrive to you as beautiful as they left. Orders are double-boxed and cushioned well (cookies have bubble wrap and/or cardboard spacers between them to minimize *any* movement), but please keep in mind the fragile nature of edible goods. I cannot guarantee against breakage, as the package is out of my hands once it ships, but I usually include a couple of extra cookies to help offset any possible problems. If you are worried about breakage, I encourage you to order about 3-5% extra, especially for fragile cookie shapes such as starfish. I am not responsible for carrier handling of packages.
I try to use biodegradable and/or repurposed inside packing materials whenever possible to cut down on my carbon footprint. Let's all do our part for the planet!
Additional policies and FAQs
RETAINER FEES / DEPOSITS: If you are placing an order to be filled more than 8 weeks into the future and your order is projected to total over $300 (not including shipping costs), you may choose to pay a retainer fee or deposit to hold your spot open on my production schedule. My schedule fills up very quickly, and this will guarantee availability for your event date without having to pay the entire cost up-front. Deposits are usually 50% of projected cost (not including shipping) and are non-refundable. Full balance is due four (4) weeks prior to your order shipping date. If balance is not paid in full by your deadline, you risk losing both your deposit and your spot on the production schedule.
STANDARD PACKAGING
Cookies come individually wrapped in food-safe, crystal clear "cello" bags, heat sealed with a customizable round sticker tag on the back. The cello bags I use are *not* the cheap ones found at craft stores; my bags are specially designed for food preservation, are 1.6mil cello, and coated with saran to maximize freshness. Cookie favors will then be placed in inner boxes cushioned with bubble wrap, and usually bubble wrap and/or cardboard backers between cookies to minimize as much movement as possible. These boxes are then packed into sturdy shipping containers with lots of padding to help keep your sweet treats as safe as possible during shipping. Large orders may be separated into multiple boxes to minimize the risk of damage as much as is humanly possible. This over-the-top method of packaging has served me *very* well, and I have a good track record of orders arriving without damage. :)
SENDING TREATS AS A GIFT?
I will happily ship directly to your gift recipient with a note included! Include a comment during checkout with your gift message and recipient address.
HAVE A CUSTOM COOKIE REQUEST?
I love working on custom orders! Contact me and let’s see what we can dream up together!
ALLERGY INFORMATION
All items are created in a peanut-free facility. Specific allergen information is included in individual item listings and with each order, but assume all products will be processed with wheat, dairy, egg and possibly tree nut contamination (due to flavourings and certain special non-icing decorations).
If you would like to request items for special dietary needs, please feel free to contact me! I happily do my best to accommodate a variety of allergy-friendly cookie needs such as nut-free and dairy free. :) Unfortunately, I can only accommodate gluten free requests for those who are following the diet by choice, or are not highly sensitive/intolerant of gluten (unlike me *pout*), or Celiac. As you folks know, wheat flour floats for DAYS and gets everywhere, no matter how well you clean...and clean...and clean. *sigh*
WHOLESALE REQUESTS
We welcome wholesale requests (even for custom designs), so drop us a line with your inquiry! There is an opening order, and we do have wholesale rates. Lead time is usually a minimum of 4 weeks for wholesale orders to accommodate volume in our very busy schedule. Some cookie styles are not currently available for wholesale orders.
