My Shop's Story
Comencé mi tienda de Etsy después de que mi abuela, que tenía noventa años en ese momento, me regaló unas pocas docenas de patrones de costura que no volvería a usar. Aunque los patrones no eran los que yo mismo usaría, estaba emocionado de pensar que alguien, en algún lugar, podría tomar estas maravillosas piezas de la historia de la moda y convertirlas en algo nuevo.
Me encanta manejar y trabajar con estos viejos patrones, porque es muy interesante preguntarse quién los poseyó primero y para qué ocasión especial fueron inventados. Y, por supuesto, ¡es divertido pensar que tal vez una vez más se usarán para crear algo especial para alguien hoy!
También disfruto viendo la obra de arte en los sobres, y cómo ha cambiado de una época a otra. Como sociedad, nuestras ideas de lo que es hermoso y moderno ciertamente han cambiado a medida que han pasado los años. Aunque, encuentro que cada estilo que ha pasado tiene su propio encanto especial.
Me complace poder ofrecer libros de punto vintage en mi tienda ahora también, después de que mi querida abuela me ofreciera varias pilas de ellos. ¡Algunos de los patrones de tejido de los años 40 y 50 son tan glamorosos!
I started my Etsy shop after my grandmother, who was in her nineties at the time, gifted me with a few dozen sewing patterns which she wouldn't use again. Although the patterns weren't ones I would use myself, I was excited to think that someone, somewhere, could take these wonderful pieces of fashion history and turn them into something new.
I love handling and working with these old patterns, because it's so interesting wondering who owned them first, and for what special occasion they were made up. And of course, it's fun to think that perhaps they will once again be used to create something special for someone today!
I also enjoy seeing the artwork on the envelopes, and how it has changed from era to era. As a society, our ideas of what is beautiful and fashionable certainly have changed as the years have gone by. Although, I find that every style that has passed by has its own special charm.
I am pleased to be able to offer vintage knitting books in my shop now as well, after my dear grandmother offered me several stacks of them. Some of the knitting patterns from the 40s and 50s are so glamorous!
