Premium Products For The Ones You Love

PaybacksABeach, LLC is owned and operated by us, a husband and wife duo in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. What started as a 30th birthday gift back in early 2015 has turned into a full-fledged business, growing to the point of hiring employees, and looking to expand to larger facilities. We pride ourselves on being the first solid oak, hand stained valets available on Etsy, and have since branched out into premium woods, laser engraving, as well as other products and shops.

Our valets are all made by hand, in our garage-turned-shop, hand stained in our addition, and shipped to you from Virginia. Our first valets were shipped in Amy’s discarded Sephora boxes, which has been upgraded today to efficient shipping and handling processes, but all still made by Andrew.

PaybacksABeach started in the spring of 2015 when Andrew was in grad school pursuing a master’s in human resource management. In March we were commissioned to come up with a gift for Amy’s younger brother’s 30th birthday, something special and unique, basically the gift for someone who has everything. Having dabbled in carpentry since middle school, this was a welcome task for Andrew to undertake, and he quickly came up with a prototype valet, Amy stained it, and the solid oak, hand stained valet was born. On a whim, having already had some success on Etsy, Amy decided to photograph the valet and list on Etsy, and low and behold it sold instantly. So did the next and the next, until we were 3 months past the birthday and decided to add initials so William would finally receive his valet. He still has that valet and uses it to this day, much to our chagrin as the design has been perfected, and all flaws improved upon.

Fast forward to 2018, Andrew has since graduated and consults professionally in Human Resources, and Amy has quit her job to pursue her MBA. The business has grown into a full-scale operation, has been featured in multiple blogs and gift guides, and featured as THE Father’s Day gift by Etsy Editors, Glamour and Real Simple magazines, with new products being thought up and added frequently. Andrew is still in charge of production and finishing, with Amy handling accounting, marketing, shipping, and customer service. What started as a birthday gift request has turned into a full-time business, talk about the American Dream!

I love my wife, and I love to make products out of wood. So, it was only logical that me and my wife Amy start a shop and sell things that we love. We know that there 1,000 shops that can sell what we sell, so we focus on the market that wants quality over quantity. There are a lot of shops that use cheap materials and cut corners, we strive to be above that!

Please message us if you want a custom order. We would rather make something that you want than make something that we think that you want. If we have a tea light holder that holds 5, but you want one that holds 6, let me know and we can make it happen. if it is the same size and shape but just holds one more, it will probably be a custom listing, but for the regular price. We will work with anyone. Just let us know how we can provide you with a great product, or provide your loved one with a fabulous custom gift that they will enjoy forever.

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
Returns and exchange details
Each of our valets are made to your order, making our products 100% custom. As a result, we do not accept returns.

Cancellations accepted within 24 hours of placing your order.

Due to the handmade manner of assembly, there can be slight visual defects. Each of our valets are made from upcycled and reclaimed wood, which will contain natural defects. Any noticeable defects such as holes and large gouges will be caught by us and not sent. This also feeds into the 2 week processing time-the wood needs time to cure, be cut to size, and processed by hand to the final result.

We will guarantee any manufacturing defects in our products as long as we are contacted within 7 days of receiving the item.

Any damage sustained due to wear and tear, or misuse of the product is not covered by any warranty provisions.

Any damage in shipping is covered under the shipping insurance purchased, and we will assist in filing a claim and do our best to give you a replacement piece based on the result of the USPS Claim.

If your item arrives damaged, or if there is a noticeable quality issue, we will work with you to resolve the matter. We pride ourself on our 5-star feedback, and we want you to be happy! Please contact us BEFORE leaving feedback- we want to make it right with you, give us a chance!
Payment
We will accept all cancellation requests within 6 hours of ordering. Once the item is in production we cannot accept cancelation requests or returns on custom orders. If you order non-custom orders, we can refund until it is in the hands of the post office. Once they have it, I can't get it back!
Shipping
{Processing Time}

All of our orders are handmade to order. If we have extra stock that is able to ship sooner, it will be clearly marked in the listing, labeled “Same Day Ship” or “Ships Same Day”- see notes below on details of days and hours this applies to.

We do require a processing window on all orders at a minimum. This is listed on every listing. If for any reason it will not ship by the date on your invoice, we will be in touch ahead of time to discuss. Please look at shipping window posted on each item for specific items. See note below under Shipping for clarification on Express shipping.

If you need your order sooner, we do offer a Rush option, an additional $25, and your item will ship within 2 days of ordering.

{Shipping}

EXPRESS: If you purchase express shipping, be aware that this DOES NOT AFFECT the processing time, and the time needed to make your item. The 3-5 business days is not affected by purchasing the extra shipping, this just guarantees the 2-3 day Priority window by the USPS. If you need your item ASAP, please purchase the RUSH option or a same day ship item.

We only ship Monday-Friday.

Once we ship your order and send you tracking information, we have fulfilled our responsibility. If an item is taking longer than expected, it fall on the USPS and the buyer. We ship to the address the buyer puts on the order, and are not responsible for address changes after shipping.

We ship using etsy's internal shipping, so please verify/validate your address and double check before checking out. If you catch a mistake and contact us immediately, we can fix it if it hasn't shipped.

If an item says delivered and isn't, it is the buyers responsibility to file a claim with the USPS as all our orders include Insurance purchased by the buyer. We are not responsible for packages left and theft. If you are concerned about theft, put a note in the order before checkout, and we will make sure a signature is required for delivery.

We do not guarantee shipping Windows once we ship the items. We do guarantee out processing time, but once the item is shipped in the method the buyer selected, we are not responsible for delays. This includes customs with international orders.

If for some reason the item is returned to us through a Postal error, we will resend but are not responsible for additional shipping charges. We will be happy to resend it, but the shipping charges will fall on the buyer. We typically send an etsy conversation followed by a direct email to the address on the account to inform of the returned package.

{Multiple Orders}
As stated above, we use etsy's internal shipping service, so all shipments are calculated by your zip code, the weight of the products, and handling fees. We will combine shipping in one box, and if there is an overpayment, we will refund the overages.

{International Shipping}
We ship to the 228 countries etsy ships to. We are not responsible for any tariffs, custom fees, or import duties associated with orders. It is the responsibility of the buyer to research associated fees with international orders before purchasing. Our standard shipping rules apply here as well with tracking- once the order is shipped from here, it is completely out of our control. Delays are to be expected, and not a reason for a refund or canceled order. Items have been delayed by customs before, and are not a reason to cancel the order or for us to issue a refund. If the item is returned to us after not passing thru customs, we can send to another address at the buyer's expense. If the item is returned due to postal error, we will resend as with domestic orders, at the expense of the buyer.
