Artwork that reflects a deep connection with Mother Earth and spirituality through creativity.
Welcome to Peace Tree Art! I'm honored to have you as my guest. My Art's intention is to bring peace, to connect you with nature, and to share spirituality through creativity.
I do have some formal art training; First at Central Virginia Community College in Commercial Art and again at Virginia Commonwealth University in Fine Art. My studies ultimately settled in medicine and I became a Registered Respiratory Therapist in 2002. I loved my career and continued to be creative in my spare time. In 2006, my already present migraine disease turned from sporadic to chronic intractable and in 2011, I finally stepped down from my job.
Being chronically ill has actually been a soul healing journey. As my body fights daily pain, stroke like symptoms and visual impairment...my life has finally slowed down enough for me to listen to what is going on inside, inside my heart and soul. For this I'm grateful.
I've healed old wounds. There's still work to be done as we are all works in progress, but I've found my faith again. I've found a deep connection to the Earth and all of her miracles and mystery. I've learned to love myself again even through sickness.
I use art and creativity as a way to manage pain. I'm sure that you'll notice that there are several different styles offered in my shop. Chronic Migraine changes how I'm able to work, see, and use my mediums and Peace Tree Art is a reflection of that.
I'm striving to be more eco conscious in my craft and whenever possible I use recycled materials. Unfortunately not all art supplies have Mother Earth in mind so I plan to give back to her in an effort to seek balance...$10 of every $100 or greater purchase will go to reforestation through the Green Belt Movement. I encourage you to browse their website. The link is also available as you browse my policies.
The Green Belt Movement was founded by Wangari Maathai and they are committed to empowering women and communities as well as serving Mother Earth. I feel this organization honors everything Peace Tree Art embodies and I'm excited to include this charity as part of my sales. In honor of your $100 or above purchase, my $10 donation will fund the planting of a tree in your name. I will include the receipt with your purchase. The Green Belt Movement will also send you a postcard.

I'm sure that you'll notice that there are several different styles of art offered at Peace Tree Art. I suffer from chronic intractable migraine and persistent aura so often my heath dictates with what medium and where I am able to work. For example my eyesight has become more and more impacted by my migraine disease. I tend to work with my abstracts or intuitive painting when my vision is the most compromised. When I'm the most light sensitive I stay downstairs in our family room. I'm able to work with pastels on our coffee table or even my abstracts on a drop cloth laid out on the floor. My intuitive paintings demand my studio where I can be free with slinging paint and not worry about the mess. Although my intuition is speaking loudly through all of my work of late. All of my styles help me manage pain and I'm grateful for the creative outlet.
Most of my abstracts are inspired by nature. The few that are not abstract (and don't fit my other categories) usually depict trees. To say I have an affinity for trees is an understatement. My faith is nature based and for me there's nothing that a walk outside, sitting by a stream or the ocean, or just being near my favorite tree cannot fix. I immediately feel grounded and connected to the Divine in nature. I strive to capture the essence of the elements, the power of the animals, and the lessons that nature has to teach us in my art and to share these with you.
I've worked with Native American Medicine Cards for many years and have come to deeply respect the valuable teaching our animal guides have to share with us. My own Animal Spirit Guides are the Cougar, Hawk and the Deer. What animal speaks to you? What animal do you see in your dreams? What animal keeps crossing your path in the waking world? What lessons and teaching could you learn from this animal if you only pay attention?
The intuitive Goddess/Priestess paintings are done fast, without any prior forethought or planning...just my own intuition guiding me. They're bright, bold and powerful. The images coming from that connection all artists have to the world unseen. .the shadow world. I hope they speak to your own intuition, that part of you that believes in magic and mystery.

For international buyers please contact me prior to purchasing and I will get you a shipping quote. I'll deduct what I've already added to the price for US buyers from the additional shipping costs.
