PeaceCrafted Products: husband and wife team crafting bath products mindfully
Jason began making his own bath salts over a decade ago after taking a good look at the ingredients of a store-bought soak. When he couldn’t pronounce the names of most of the chemicals contained therein, he decided there had to be a better and safer alternative; during a 10-minute bath or shower, your body absorbs as much of a water’s impurities as drinking an 8 ounce glass of the same water. After much research and plenty of trial and error, he came up with a base that was mild, had beneficial properties, and most importantly... lacked chemical compounds with names containing more than twelve syllables.
With a salt base ready, some studies in herbalism and aromatherapy complemented the blend with scents and experiences based on moods, ailments, and aromatic preference. As a die-hard tech geek, Jason was soon "beta testing" his creations on friends and family to unanimously positive results. He began gifting salts and on several recommendations, tried his hand at packaging and selling them. In a short time, he was having very successful sales at events and festivals and eventually some local shops were carrying his products.
Besides enjoying a pleasant soak (the earthy spicy autumn blend - Harvest - is his favorite!), Jason enjoys being plugged in to the latest technology, cooking a good meal, working hard at being a responsible consumer (fiscally and environmentally), and sampling the latest craft beers that he’s discovered. Jason also slings beers behind the bar at a local craft brewery.
Linda has had a desire to take care of the environment since she was a young girl. She is a trained scientist who received her Ph.D. in marine biology. By day, she is a professor who enjoys teaching and research. While PeaceCrafted was her first business (we started in 2008), she has since developed her entrepreneurial skills at Linda's Minis (also here on Etsy!), which sells dollhouse miniatures.
Linda started making her own bath salts in 2006 starting with a simple blend of epsom salt, dried milk and lavender essential oil. She is the webmaster of the PeaceCrafted site and co-creator of many of PeaceCrafted's signature scents - her favorites are any of the chakra scents (especially "Heart") and Earthen Mist. She has also developed the recipes we use for our soaps. When not doing science or working at PeaceCrafted, she can be found hiking, baking, reading, writing, traveling, painting, or working on her collection of dollhouse miniatures.
