About Me!

After almost 30 years as a receptionist/switchboard operator/clerk, my position was eliminated in January 2013. I decided to finally bring my artistic talents to the fore.

Throughout my life, if I couldn't find what I wanted, I'd make it. Because of that, I've delved into or been formally trained in different ranges of the arts: painting, refinishing furniture, faux-finishing, sewing clothing, drapery, period dress, embroidering, stenciling, theater, singing belle canto, contra & folk dancing, beading. Based on those experiences, needs & wants, I drew upon inspiration for my shop. I had always wanted to work in the arts! I finally get to!

I am of Polish ancestry & in national folk dress, Poles wear peacock feathers in their hats at weddings & festivals, and I have them all over my house! I also love art glass, rich color, and iridescence, elements of the pieces, which are also found on a peacock, therefore, I couldn't help but name my shop from the phrase "proud as a peacock"!

My eclectic, boho, beaded, fashion jewelry, never following trends, wants to create feelings of beauty & confidence for its wearer. When being the first person seen, representing a company, whether as a receptionist, in sales, or even at the top, how you feel about yourself can project that first impression, of that company, to the customer. The better you feel about yourself, the better you will live & work, in general. On top of that, these pieces can take you all the way from the office through the evening, without skipping a beat!

You will find beaded jewelry in Smithsonian magazine, Holly & Yashi, & Una Alla Volta, & others, but here in my shop, without the super high prices and one-of-a-kind.(okay, so occasionally I make a second for myself). I won't consider a piece finished until it is absolutely perfect!

For the address signs, I recruit my husband, Clay, to help in sawing apart the different sizes of board from one large piece of hardboard. Besides scroll sawing, I do everything else: designing, painting, drawing, varnishing, etc. When shipping these, I re-use cardboard I have saved from items shipped to me. Why buy new?

Besides all of that, my husband is a meteorologist,& we have 3 cats, Newt, Tribble, & Troy (as in Commander Troy from Star Trek, but really Trojak, a dance for 3 as she has only 3 legs). Other interests include reading, history, folk and contra dancing, jigsaw puzzles, baseball, and trivia.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I hope your purchases will evoke in you, an uplifted feeling every time you see them!
Thanks, all!
