Note from shop owner We are currently closing up shop to spend some time improving on our existing processes and practices. When we're confident that we can adequately provide the kind of customer service we want to be known for, we'll reopen. I expect this process to take a few weeks, at which point we will resume regular business. Thank you for your patience!

About

A bibliophile and a rather pesky cat teamed up.

...And by 'teamed up,' I mean 'he constantly steals my thread while I'm trying to work.'

In January of 2015, a dear friend of mine left for Germany for a year. As a parting gift, I made him a blank journal with a German flag on the cover for him to write his memories in. That sloppy, not so impressive (but well intentioned) gift started me on the path of bookbinding. Since then, I've fallen in love with the craft and haven't looked back since.

My grey tabby Loki is a constant pest while I'm trying to work, though. He demands on jumping in my lap, attacking my string, or sneaking bites of my leather hides. Once, he upturned my yarn basket and unraveled every single skein. He has a weird fascination with opening the cabinets and hiding in them until his sister walks by. Then he jumps out of them and attacks her like a furry assassin. I can never bring myself to stay mad at him despite his mischievous nature. So instead, I named the brand after him.

Seemed fitting.

  • Meg

    Owner

Meg is a nursing student and a native of St. Louis. She started book binding two years ago, practiced and practiced, and eventually founded PeskyCat Papercraft. Her hobbies include studying for HESIs and desperately failing to keep up with emails.

  • Andrea

    Bookbinder, Assistant

Andrea came to us shortly after our Harry Potter design went wild online. She's meticulously detail oriented and has such a sunny disposition that sometimes it hurts to look directly at her.

  • Michael

    Production Engineer

Michael is our rock. He finds ways to make our visions a reality and keeps the machinery running. And when we come up with some crazy outlandish design that will make his life impossibly difficult, he just sighs, shakes his head, and gets to work.

  • Alex

    Bookbinder, Assistant

Alex came to us through a Reddit thread, and we swear he's the best thing we've ever gotten online. His handiwork is incredible, and his mellow personality frequently keeps us grounded.

Welcome to Pesky Cat Papercraft, where good stories come in great covers! Shouldn't the exterior of a book should be just as enchanting as the tale it tells? I think so, anyway!

I specialize in rebinding books into hardback leather covers that are both more protective and more aesthetically pleasing. Each book is bound by hand using contemporary binding techniques, and each cover is designed specifically for the story in question. If you would like to turn your favorite novel into something truly special, drop me a message. We'll work together to achieve your vision.
