About

Our Story

Peter Sheldon Ceramics is located in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. We are owned and operated by ceramic artist, Peter Sheldon, and all around awesome girlfriend and business partner, Ellen Woglom. Together, we create beautiful, one-of-a-kind, functional wares and accents for the home. Each piece is crafted by Peter to embrace the unique variations and personality of the materials. We hope to provide you with something that will be used and enjoyed for years to come. Whether shared around a dinner table with friends and family, or displaying your favorite fresh-cut flowers, our pieces are designed to enhance the home.

Peter Sheldon graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. with a BS in Ceramics and Fine Art. He further cultivated his craft by immersing himself in acclaimed ceramic residencies in the United States and abroad. Much of his practice explored wood-firing and the use of anagama kilns. This labor-intensive technique, brought from China to Japan via Korea in the 5th century, utilizes the chance encounter of flame and ash to build a unique surface over days of constant stoking. With this process, Peter gained an appreciation for the simplicity of form, and beauty of natural ash glazes. Currently, our work is fired in gas kilns, but the markings of flame and speckles of ash have had a lasting influence on the work.

Peter and Ellen grew up together in Vermont. Upon graduating from high school, they each embarked on their own adventures and explorations of their new adult lives. After a decade apart, they reunited in 2012 and began traveling back and forth from Montana to California to see each other. In 2014 Peter made the move to Los Angeles and become a Visiting Artist at The American Museum of Ceramic Arts in Pomona, C.A. With Ellen's passion for interior design and Peter's skills as a potter, they quickly found that they not only made a great team in life, but in business as well.

PSC is an endeavor we both feel passionate about. We hope to extend that through our work and into your homes.
hope you enjoy!

Returns and exchanges
We are a made-to-order ceramics company and begin work to make and fulfill your items shortly after your order is placed. As a result, once an order is placed and items go to production, any modification or cancellation of the order may result in forfeiture of amounts already paid. Additionally, once an item has been shipped, we cannot make changes to the order.

At Sheldon Ceramics we are committed to providing beautiful, handmade, unique works of art to be enjoyed and used for a lifetime! We are passionate about each item we hand make, and want you to be equally as passionate about your new purchase. Upon arrival, if we have failed to provide you with what you hoped to receive, we will honor a 14 day exchange policy or store credit. This does not include custom orders or made to order pieces. Please keep in mind that most items are made to order. Due to the handmade, made to order nature of these items, we do not offer returns or refunds on made to order items unless received broken or damaged.

For standard, in-stock orders/items: The item(s) must be returned unused and in the same condition in which they arrived. We will exchange any item that does not arrive intact and in perfect condition. Please Notify Sheldon Ceramics within 5 days of receipt, for damaged or broken items.

You may return your unused item in its original condition and packaging within two weeks of receipt.
Please request a return by emailing petermsheldon [!at] gmail.com.
Unless your item is received damaged, or there was some error on our part, you will be responsible for all return shipping costs.
Because refunds will not be issued in full for items damaged in return shipping or returns that are never received, we highly recommend that you insure all return shipments and provide Sheldon Ceramics with the shipment tracking number. Additionally, Sheldon Ceramics must receive any/all returns before we can issue and ship replacement items.

For custom orders: Unless the order arrives damaged or broken, we do not offer a refund on custom orders. It is important to remember that each piece is handcrafted, and no two items are identical. While minimal, there are slight, and unavoidable variations due to the clay, glazes and firing techniques used. Our work is not mass produced, created in a factory or on an assembly line. The variations of each piece are what make it uniquely yours! Our pottery is one of a kind, and the variations are meant to be embraced and appreciated for their character. We hope you enjoy your new pottery as much as we enjoyed crafting it for you!
