Back in 2002, I got the crazy (or stupid...) idea to dress up as a character from a video game. I had never worked on a wig before, yet chose a character whose major defining feature was eleven extra large braids. (Shiva, from Final Fantasy X... Google it.)

The wig took approximately five months to complete, and weighed 15 pounds. When I wore the costume to the convention, I was stopped every few minutes by someone asking where I got it. "I made it.", I'd reply.

"You MADE that?! ...um, could you make one for me?"

And so Petting Zoo Wigs was born. The shop was incredibly busy, cranking out as many as 200 custom wigs per year. (Not including falls and fringes!) After years of making some of the trickiest wig designs ever conceived, and teaching wigcraft at schools and workshops, I decided that I needed a way to share my knowledge that would allow me to spend more time with my family.
