Announcement   I've never had much luck with sewing projects that involve stuffing, mannequins, or really anything 3D. But PHLAT? I can do that! At long last, the many phlat creations in my mind (and on my shelves) make it to Etsy. Thanks for joining me here.

As a student art therapist I've become more interested in deeply personal art, from inspiration cards to collage to self-maps to messy abstract explosions of emotion and colour.

I'll be keeping up with weekly inspiration cards, adding letter-writing goodies (cards, postcards, envelopes) and also getting back to my stitching roots with hankies and personalized (often vintage) baby blankets.

And soon, I'll have a website with therapeutic art/craft workshops and art-in-wilderness excursions on offer. Exciting times.

For sporadic and unrelated musings on travel as well as poetry, find me at girlbetweenplaces.blogspot.com

About

What Happens

What happens when a girl who spent most of her childhood (and too many years as an adult) believing she wasn't an artist, slowly comes to the realization, thanks to many special people, rambling road trips and encouraging words, that she can do it? She starts slowly, takes small bites, (chews 30 times for each bite) and stops hiding in her head, in her bed, in the places in between art where so much life can take place without really HAPPENING.

Writing is art, and that is what she does first. But art is more than just that, and she wants to try it all. She is hungry for it.
