My name is Juan Aizpuru. I am a Spanish photographer who travels and lives in any snow-covered part of the world. I am currently living in Zermatt (summer), in the heart of the Swiss Alps. I have previously lived in the Pyrenees, the French Alps, Swiss alps, Chile, Argentina and Japan.
While I was completing my Graphic Design and Multimedia diploma, I run into a great photography teacher. She was very demanding and I worked hard enough to obtain good grades, thus falling in love with the world of photography.
But my passion for photography goes way back: I was 12 years old when they offered me a camera as a present, and I experimented as lot until I learned how I was meant to do things properly.
Actually, I am fascinated by action sports photography because I get involved in the action myself and that really keeps me going. As of late, I have mostly worked around winter sports action photography and I am starting to see the results of my work on the main Spanish magazines and some international web magazines. I also write some stories, as it is necessary to add some words to go along the images.
My main goal in life is to be successful in this profession and specialty, and I will not stop until I achieve it. Right now, I think I am on the right path. I hope to be producing images with the big winter sports players in the near future and slowly find my place amongst the photographers I have always admired.
I have accomplished several first descents on a snowboard in Europe, as well as several 4.000m peaks. I have ventured into unexplored terrain in South America, namely around the area of El Chaltén, several big mountain faces that have rarely been ridden, I have ascended and descended the most iconic Chilean volcanoes, as well as many other big mountains in the area.
