love, love, love, thanks
I love working with fabrics to create something practical but also beautiful.
I started sewing by accident because my grandson needed cute clothes and I wasn't having much luck shopping. This was before I discovered Etsy! I love to put fabrics together to make cute appliques for kids and next thing I know I am signed up for a craft fair. I had good response so I decided to branch out a little and started designing purses and bags. I quickly realized that this is my passion and I haven't looked back.
I named my shop Picking Poppys in honor of my Mom. Her nickname was "Poppy" growing up so the misspelling is intentional. She lost her battle with breast cancer seven years ago and I want her name to go on forever. She is sorely missed. She would have loved watching this business grow!
WHAT INSPIRES ME
I get inspired by color and putting colors together to make a purse or bag. I can't wait to get started on another design if I truly love the fabric. I try to be practical at the same time and make something that will last for years and remain beautiful too.
I use great fabric and double and triple sew my seams so that you always get the most from my bags and purses. I am constantly reading and learning new techniques to make them better. I use a Janome MC 6500 sewing machine which I really love.
I make everything in my home which is smoke free and very bright - a great place to work. I turn up the radio and sew up a storm.
I started my Etsy shop in January of 2011 and there have been lots of ups and downs. It started out slow, but I am gaining momentum and it is very exciting! The workshops and information provided by Etsy is great and has been very helpful to me. I love it when I get an email that someone has purchased one of my purses or bags! It is a wonderful feeling to ship them all over the United States and Canada - one went to the United Kingdom!
I don't know where this will lead, but I am having a great time finding out. Stay tuned!
I am a happily married mother of three girls and an amazing two year old grandson. I live in Northwest Arkansas and work out of my home.
All of my products are handmade by me in my smoke-free home. I am a mother of three beautiful girls and a grandmother to 4 amazing grandchildren.
I love looking for great fabric and patterns and putting them together to make something beautiful. My products are high quality and I take pride in making sure everything is as close to perfect as I can possibly get it before shipping it to you.
