This piece of wood was first cut and then roughly carved into a bowl as shown in the photo. Then dried in a small homemade kiln to stabilize the wood by heating it up to about 120° for 3 weeks. Then finally carved down and sanded to the final shape.

About

My Woodworking Shop

During the beginning of the summer of 2013, I decided to go all into my woodworking hobby and make it my full time job.

I transformed a small 9x12 garden shed into my new workshop. And started making wooden things. I love making all kinds of things, but nothing sold as much as my wooden guitar picks did.

I started investing more time and money in buying new kinds of wood to work with and making guitar picks with them. I use wood from international online woodworking suppliers, local saw mills, local hardwood stores, as well as dead or fallen trees in nearby forests to make all the different kinds of wooden guitar picks. The wood comes from all over the world as you can see in the description for each guitar pick.

Engraving also is a part of my hobby. The real definition of this method of engraving is called Pyrography which is known as writing with Fire! It is a rare art that I enjoy and love to share with others. I create designs on my computer and transfer them onto wood with a wood burner.

HOW BIG ARE THESE PICKS? (Guitar Picks ONLY)

My guitar picks are approximately
>1 1/16 inch or 26 mm wide
>1 1/2 inch long or 31 mm
>1/8 of an inch thick or 3 mm thick to insure durability and to allow the grooves at the top of the pick to be deeper, allowing for better grip

Some guitar picks may not be exactly those dimensions. But I do my best to make them as close to those measurements as I can. I do this by hand and I have to estimate as I sand them by hand.

CAN YOU ACTUALLY PLAY WITH THESE? (Guitar Picks ONLY)

Yes, I practice guitar and use them on my acoustic guitar. Wood guitar picks offer a much clearer and stronger strum. It gives a very earthy tone. You’ll hear and notice it when you try it.

Feel and sound:

For sound,
They make a great smooth sound when they hit the strings. It doesn't have that plasticky sound that a plastic pick has as it rolls off each string. Customers and friends say that they have a beautiful earthy tone.

For feel,
Smooth to the touch, great grip at the top. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there are indentations at the top on both sides for gripping. Engravings add some roughness but give more friction to make it even easier to grip.

Care instructions

For almost everything in my store, you can reapply a coat of mineral oil or beeswax/mineral oil mix to the wood to revive its color over time.
