About

I Love Fiber.

It all started with a love for fiber that I couldn't fight anymore!

I was working in my local yarn store, selling other people all this gorgeous fiber, and decided that I wanted to try my hand at creating some handpainted skeins for my employer. A few weeks later, Rain Chime Fiber Arts was born!

It's a lovely way to release my creative side while giving to people the raw material for creating things themselves. I get so much satisfaction from this!

I'm a knitter, hand-dyer, and fiber fiend. My yarn is an obsession, and an obsession deserves to be an enterprise! When I'm not teaching (knitting & pithier things), I'm designing knitware and dying fine yarns in my small studio.

Shop policies

Last updated on September 10, 2013
Welcome to my Shop Policy page. I think you’ll find that my policies exist less to make my business run smoother, and more to make your shopping experience so.

We stand behind our products 100%. We strive for first rate quality, which is the most important part of customer service. Along with this commitment, we also strive to accurately describe all items so there is never a surprise upon receipt! Add to that our average of one-business-day processing time, and we know you'll be satisfied!
Payment
At this time, I am only accepting Paypal. A Paypal account is free and easy to obtain, so go to it!
Payment is expected within three days of purchase. If product and shipping are not paid by the end of five days, you risk losing your purchase and having it re-listed. Convo me if there are extenuating circumstances; perhaps we can work together.
Shipping
I ship all items via USPS First Class. Of course, if you want it quicker, you can always upgrade your shipping at an added cost. I ship 3+ times/week, so your orders should go out no more than two business days after payment is verified. If you have any special shipping requests (shipping insurance, giftee’s address, etc.) just Convo me and let me know. I’m here for you. And of course, combined shipping rates are much lower, so shop, shop, shop!

SHIPPING FOR 9 OR MORE MINI-SKEINS:
In order to serve you better and for shipping prices to better reflect what I pay consistently, I have chosen a flat-rate for all mini-skeins and stitch-markers. This is the rate I pay to ship up to eight skeins inside the US. I may be able to stuff ten in there if needed, but I would ask that if making orders of 9-16 total mini-skeins (ie: 1 set of 6 and 5 individual skeins), you purchase the $0.60 "Added Shipping" listing. I wish there were a way to control this within Etsy, but I cannot do it without overcharging everybody all the time. This way you pay a fair shipping price all the time: $2.25 for 1-8 skeins, $2.85 for 9-16, and so on. If you forget to purchase the "Added Shipping" listing, I'll just send a friendly reminder via Convo.

I find that international rates are outrageous no matter how carefully I pack your goods, so unfortunately I cannot offer international shipping at this time on all listings. That being said, if you are willing to pay $10+ to ship up to eight mini-skeins or one full-size skein, please Convo me and I will arrange it.
Refunds and Exchanges
Most if not all of my items are fully exchangeable or refundable. You must contact me within 10 days of receipt; I’m happy to repair or replace any items that arrive incorrect or not-as-advertised for some reason.

If there is a discrepancy about the accuracy of a listing, please Convo me first thing so we can work together to resolve any issues.

Our items should never be damaged in the mail, but if there should be such an issue, please Convo me to see what can be done.
Additional policies and FAQs
Most items are made in my smoke-free, pet-free studio. However, my home is cat-friendly, and many items do come through my home on their way to you.

Although I will use commercial acid-dyes, many of my dyes are nontoxic, even edible. You can be assured that anything you purchase from Rain Chime was made with utmost love and care with first-class materials and in a responsible way.
