Clay, Clay, Clay!

I love the feel, the colors, the imagination...and the smiles finished creations create!

My adventure with clay began over 20 years ago with beanie baby look-a-likes, then custom creations for friends and family, and then nativity sets. Custom creations (ornaments, cake toppers, and nativity additions) have continued to be a personal favorite of mine because each figure has a new and special story.

I then began creating saint figures for family members and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sets for an atrium at a school where I worked. While designing and sculpting these figures, I developed my personal style and finally felt like I was doing valuable work. Both are such blessings that have led me to expand my hobby and be able to stay home with my kiddos and sculpt after they go to sleep!

The figures are made with colored polymer clay (not painted clay). No molds are used other than shaping with my own two hands...this makes each figure truly unique! Although I strive to keep each figure simple rather than distracting, I pay special attention to detail...somehow the clock speeds away while I inspect each figure before firing them in the oven!

"Whatever you do, do all for the glory of God." -1 Corinthians 10:31

Welcome to Picture it in Clay!
There are so many possibilities with clay! This shop began with many paths and as I venture down each one, I trust in God to guide my hands in the direction that will bring the most joy.

Choose from...
...A saint statue that appeals to a child's imagination, initiates conversations about faith, teaches little hands to be gentle and respectful, and provides time for prayer through play.
...The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd clay figures bring life to Biblical stories using the teaching methods of Maria Montessori. As a trained teacher, I try to follow this Confucius proverb when teaching: I hear and I forget; I see and I remember; I do and I understand. What better way to develop a relationship with Christ for a child's young heart than concrete exploration of the mysteries of our faith?
...A nativity set made complete with custom additions. So fun and inviting for hands young and old! My favorite part of making the nativity sets is adding custom additions because that is truly what makes it unique!
...A custom clay figurine opens up the imagination to so many possibilities! Special memories or something you just can't find anywhere else, here is the place to create it in either a caricature or realistic style ...can you Picture it in Clay?!

REPAIR:
When packaging the clay creations, I am very careful and do my best to secure and cushion the figures. Sadly, though, there is a slight possibility that shipment may damage the sculptures. The good news is that it is often an easy fix! Below are a few options for doctoring:

1) Super Glue Gel: This glue does wonders! A clean break is super easy to heal with the super glue. How?--put a small dab on the break and hold the two pieces together for 10 seconds. It's a clean heal!

2) Photo Exam: If you are unsure about gluing... the next step is to take a picture of the figure and send it to me in a convo.

3) Mail Fix: Hmm...super glue does not seem like it will repair the break...and a picture was sent for us to discuss together...time to mail it back for repair and it will be promptly returned. If a piece is crushed (My worst fear!), I will rebake and attach the pieces. The address will be provided in our convo containing the photo from you.

CANCELLATION:
Please note I will refund LESS the Etsy fee and/or PayPal fee when an order is cancelled.
Payment
I accept Paypal, major credit cards and etsy gift cards. Custom figures are made using the "Request Custom Order" button. I require payment before shipping any items.
Shipping
Most often, shipping is sent Priority (2 day) and includes a tracking number.
Most items are made once I receive an order, but it all depends on the number of orders I have. If you would like a more precise time estimate or need faster shipping, just convo me before your purchase!

If you would like International Shipping, please send me a convo and we can make it happen!
Additional policies and FAQs
DURABILITY:
The clay creations are very durable and I have dropped the Good Shepherd Figures multiple times...but dropping is not recommended!

STORAGE:
Avoid extreme temperatures (no plastic enjoys that) and keep out of direct sunlight (the colors may fade) for an extended period of time.

Because all items are handmade, please note that some variations will occur...how great is that?!
