While on a trip, I was fascinated by shapes, markings and symbols. I saw thousands-of-years-old drawings and paintings made by people on large rocks. They had their own story to tell.

These old rock drawings and paintings touch us in different ways. Routine thought patterns fall apart and thoughts drift along forgotten or entirely new paths. They don't disappear. Even when the humans disappear, traces remain...

I carried these stories with me until I found a way to retell them, to pass them on. Felting together layers of different coloured wool seemed like the right method. This is how my series of wall hangings, where shapes appear from a dark backround onto a light surface, came to life.

And so I made my first carpets, which were soon followed by jackets and vests with runic symbols.
