A work in progress

As one of the first casualties of the recession starting in 2008, I've had to re-vision not only my future, but myself as well. A number of life-changing events later, I am no longer the corporate professional I once was ... but I am still a work in progress (and hope I always will be).

Initially I worked on finishing my self-published book, Notes From a Dreamer ... on Dreaming: A Personal Journey in Dream Interpretation. (Available on Amazon in paperback and kindle, but you can also order an autographed copy in my shop.) A few months later I met another dreamworker/researcher and moved from New Jersey to Virginia to be with him. After five very happy years, he passed away and once again I was left revisioning myself and my life.

While I continued with my dreamworking (check out my Notes From a Dreamer etsy shop ... https://www.etsy.com/shop/notesfromadreamer), I began painting abstracts in acrylic and discovered a new love and talent ... and sold a number of paintings in my first year. When money for Christmas presents was tight, I decided to finally start using the wine bottles I'd been collecting for years. I never knew why I was collecting them ... I just knew that one day I would need them. In doing so, I discovered I loved taking my abstract art from 2-dimensional works into 3 dimensional pieces.

When I saw an acrylic skin (more on that below) that I really loved, I decided to wrap it around a bottle and knew I was on to something. I loved that piece so much that I had to turn it into a lamp ... and so I added a new twist to my 3-d art. (BTW -- that lamp was the first one I sold.)

I've now added acrylic skins to vases as well as lamps and these are, by far, my favorite pieces. Nightlights seemed a natural offshoot and I still paint abstracts. Now I'm using acrylic skins to create jewelry, magnets and more! Who knows what will be added next?

Then one day a friend was about to throw out or donate bins of fabric and fabric scraps. I asked her if I could have them. I didn't know what I would do with them (I didn't even own a sewing machine at the time), but I saw it as another opportunity to create something new.

I am always open to explore new realms and will create something just for you. Do you have a special item in mind? Looking for that perfect color decor piece? Need a unique gift for that special someone? Need favors for your wedding guests? Please contact me and we can talk about how I can meet your needs.

Leaning towards perfectionism, I take pride in what I do and will not sell anything I wouldn't buy myself. Please, let me know of any problems or concerns you might have with a product and we can discuss a mutually agreeable solution.

I am currently offering free shipping, for most items, within US only. If you are outside the US please let me know and I will calculate shipping costs for you. Note: All jewelry items can now be shipped internationally!

I try to be eco-friendly as much as I can in my work. I create acrylic skins from the paint leftover on my palette when I am finished painting. Once dry, the 'skin' can be peeled off the palette. Its elasticity allows it to be cut and formed around any shape. I use these skins in collages and also to decorate my lamps, vases, bottles, jewelry, magnets and more.

I also create my own hand-dyed paper by soaking used paper towels in my brushwater when I see a beautiful color I want to capture. Once dry, I use them in collages and to decorate my nightlights and other items. In addition, I treat any remaining brushwater before I dump it, keeping any paint and binders from entering the ground and waterways.
