Sewing is my therapy!
Minha mãe me ensinou a costurar muito cedo. Ela era tão paciente para me ensinar e eu ainda me lembro dos primeiros projetos. No meu aniversário de 16 anos, eu fui presenteado com uma máquina de costura própria e o resto é realmente história. Eu me casei aos 19 anos, um mês antes de 11 de setembro. Meu marido foi para a Guerra do Iraque em 2003 e durante esses nove meses, eu poderia ser encontrado passando a maior parte do meu tempo livre costurando, muitas vezes ensinando amigos enquanto eu estava nisso, trabalhando em todos os tipos de projetos, desde derrubar roupas que veríamos no shopping, para deslizar móveis.
Avançando alguns anos e três bebês, e costurar mais uma vez me deu uma saída criativa e algo para colocar minhas mãos durante um momento particularmente difícil da vida. Descobri o mundo dos blogueiros de costura e percebi que havia outras jovens mães lá fora costurando e tornando legal de novo! Como em muitas coisas, ainda mais alegria foi encontrada na comunidade de compartilhar meus projetos com outros.
Como cônjuge militar, tive o prazer de viver em tantos lugares e coloquei minhas habilidades de costura para usar costura para estúdios de dança e designers de interiores, e ensinando acampamentos de costura e aulas para crianças. Atualmente, compartilho a alegria de costurar tanto aqui na minha loja através de padrões, tutorial, arte e muito mais, quanto no meu blog e canal no YouTube, onde posto conteúdo de costura e tutoriais gratuitos sobre o regular!
Minha missão aqui é espalhar o amor pela costura para quem quiser aprender; para inspirar pessoas de todas as idades a criar coisas com as mãos e incentivar mais costuristas a ter tempo para investir em ensinar os outros a costurar também -- crianças, adolescentes, adolescentes e além. Seja seus próprios filhos, um pequeno vizinho que precisa de um amigo, ou uma jovem esposa que está nas trincheiras, espero que você encontre alguma inspiração aqui para passar o inseto de costura junto!

My mom taught me to sew at a very early age. She was so patient to teach me and I still remember those first projects. For my sixteenth birthday, I was gifted a sewing machine of my own and the rest is really history. I got married at nineteen, a month before September 11th. My husband deployed to the Iraq War in 2003 and throughout those nine months, I could be found spending most of my free time sewing, often teaching friends while I was at it, working on all kind of projects, from knocking off garments we'd see at the mall, to slipcovering furniture.
Fast forward a few years and three babies, and sewing once again gave me a creative outlet and something to put my hands to during a particularly trying time of life. I discovered the world of sewing bloggers and realized there were other young moms out there sewing and making it cool again! As with many things, even more joy was found in the community of sharing my projects with others.
As a military spouse, I’ve had the pleasure of living in so many places and have put my sewing skills to use sewing for dance studios and interior designers, and teaching sewing camps and classes to kids. Currently, I share the joy of sewing both here in my shop through patterns, tutorial, artwork and more, as well as on my blog and YouTube channel, where I post sewing content and free tutorials on the regular!
My mission here is to spread the love of sewing to anyone who desires to learn; to inspire people of all ages to create things with their hands and to encourage more sewists to take the time to invest in teaching others to sew too -- kids, tweens, teens and beyond. Whether it's your own children, a little neighbor who needs a pal, or a young wife who's husband is in the trenches, I hope you find some inspiration here to pass the sewing bug along!
