Thanks for the excellent pattern. Easy to understand, well written.
A tidy house is the sign of a wasted life...
That about says it all !
I'm always inspired by the view from my Whaletown Studio window...the little grey building with the green metal roof On the left of the photo is the Whaletown Post Office where my orders are shipped from. It's the smallest free standing federal post office in Canada.
I've been a wife for 50 years, a mother to two grown sons and grandmother to 3 boys and a girl.
I've been knitting and sewing since childhood and have always been making things. I learned to sew on my grandmother's old crank handle sewing machine (which I still have). I was so used to controlling my sewing with one hand and cranking with the other that when I got my first electric machine I didn't know what to do with with the extra hand.
As a young wife and mother I sewed and knitted for my children and husband, it's just what you did in those days.
Over the years I acquired other creative skills and found I could combine techniques to make my own original designs. I must have a short attention span because I also enjoy printmaking, watercolour painting and weaving. I've written and published a local history book about the place where I grew up...Historic Departure Bay...Looking Back, and have another local history book that is nearly complete.
Rather than decide on a project and then go out and buy the materials to make it, I do it in reverse. People give me fabrics, yarns and other crafting materials or I look in my stash to see what I have, then decide what to make.
I'm lucky to spend half my year in Victoria BC and the other half in Whaletown BC on Cortes Island, where I have a lovely little waterfront studio. On Cortes I'm part of a creative community that is both supportive and inspiring.
I hope you enjoy my little creations.
