Quilts With a History

I rescue and renovate orphan quilt tops. These are tops that were pieced by an anonymous needle artist but for whatever reason were never finished into a quilt. Some are very old and some not so old. Each one-of-a-kind quilt has it's own unique story which is included in the description.

Like many peoples through history I believe a handmade item takes on some of the essence and spirit of it's creator. By bringing these tops to life, I hope to pay homage to the original needle artist. I try to keep any additions, repairs and quilting designs to those that would be appropriate to the style of the original top. My hope is that these quilts will provide peace and comfort to their future owners.

I also create quilts using cast-off, gently used fabrics. The end result and size of the quilt is dictated to me by the quantity of fabric available, how the fabrics work together and a little whimsy. These quilts are more modern in style and appearance.

Please do not compare these quilts to factory made, imported quilts and comforts. While these imports have their place, the workmanship and quality of materials do not match what I use in my quilts.
