The Story of Ping

Ping Design was founded by myself, Kirk, a multi-disciplinary designer with a background in industrial design, automotive design, photography and graphic design. I grew up around all things design, working in my father’s signwriting business and later on moving into industrial design.

Why the name Ping Design Shop?
As I am based in China I wanted to create a name that worked well with both Western and Chinese culture. Graphic designer in Chinese is 平面设计师.

In pinyin this is Píngmiàn shèjì shī. This literally translates into “flat surface designer” so the name of the shop could be thought as “Flat Designer”.
