About

Welcome to Pippa’s Print Shop! I’m Pippa. Pleased to meet you, and thanks for checking out the shop!

I founded Pippa’s Print Shop in 2014 as an outlet in the urban jungle of Oakland, California. The chaos, grit, and noise of the big city was stifling my creative life. I’m a small-town girl. I grew up bicoastal in two stunning backwoods towns--Ojai, California, a land of avocados, agave and sage, and Sweden, Maine, an unending forest of birch trees, colonial covered bridges and loons chirping on lakes. My work is a reflection of the deep nature found in these places, a constant source of calm and inspiration.

Travel and the beauty of culture influence every print, and you can see the trace of distant lands in my pieces—Brazil, Montana, West Africa, Oakland, Paris, Prague, and London. Bright color, unique shape, and exploration define my style.

My process begins with an idea, a shape, and a blank slate. I sketch the concept onto a linoleum slab and watch it grow. Then I carve, envisioning the negative space and color palette. From there I roll block printing ink onto the linoleum, often using two color schemes, and finally hand-press it onto a sheet of paper. I prefer exploring color and shape by making limited editions of all my prints. This gives them a longer life, and allows a more creative process. Once printed they hang in my studio in Oakland until they are signed, numbered, and named.

Due to the limited editions, each print is personal to me and to you. Unique art has a sacred place in my heart and history, and I try to connect my life with yours through the process and final product.

Thank you so much for exploring with me. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you see something you like, might want, or just to talk!
