About

"I just find these so beautiful--in a totally deadly way."

Robert Co is a carnivorous plant enthusiast and creator of The Pitcher Plant Project—a blog where readers can partake in his obsession for growing carnivorous plants, specifically Sarracenia, the North American pitcher plant. He enjoys sharing helpful tips and advice on how to successfully grow this crafty species, as well as how to photograph its ferocious beauty. Co has grown and hybridized Sarracenia for the past 10 years and in the process has amassed his own unique collection. As a photographer, he has gained appreciation from many of his followers who relish in the beautiful imagery that he captures of each unique species.

A lover of gardening since childhood, Co attributes his passion for plants to his green-thumb grandparents. The Pitcher Plant Project is his way of honoring their legacy. He currently resides in Pacifica with his wife Dahlia and their two boys, Josiah and Lucas.

Since childhood I've always had an affinity for plants, but mostly ones that are carnivorous! Photography is another passion of mine so here is where it all comes together. I live in Pacifica, Ca by the beautiful ocean with my wife and two boys.

Along with my husband and partner, I also enjoy being surrounded by plants and nature. Design, photography, and art are what I enjoy the most if not helping in the garden. Other than that, I love connecting with others and having fun with my family.

Welcome, I am Robert Co of The Pitcher Plant Project! Along with my wife, Dahlia Co, we grow and hybridize Sarracenias, which are also called The North American Pitcher Plant. These plants are carnivorous, but they are also very beautiful in its own right. We aim to not only conserve these plants, but also to spread love and awareness for these rare and captivating species through our art and photography!
