About

Handmade Seed Bead Pixelated Accessories!

Pixelosis began with my desire to accessorize myself with characters and items from all my favorite childhood video games. 8-bit perler bead creations were everywhere, but in my opinion they were way too big to be worn as jewelry. I decided to see if I could some how make pixelated accessories with seed beads, so I ordered myself beads in red, black, and white (since hundreds of things can be made from the old Super Mario games with just those colors!) without really knowing what I was going to do with them when they got here!

At first I attempted to thread very thin wire through entire rows of beads similar to the way we used to make beaded lizards in elementary school... The results were horrendous, but I was determined to make this work! I then ordered a smaller size of bead and tried again... And again I failed miserably.. I did some research on beads and soon discovered BEAD WEAVING! It's an insanely time consuming process that allows me to create pixelated perfection and I soon became consumed with making miniature pixel earrings for myself.

With so many people complimenting me on my earrings and asking me where I bought them I decided to make an Etsy shop! It was a slow start and at my first artist alley table all I offered were earrings. By the end of that first unprofitable day I realized I need more variety, so I drove like a maniac to the nearest craft store from that convention center and bought supplies to offer some of my items as keychains. The next two days of that show were a great success with the addition of those keychains! At my next show I began to offer necklaces, and after some technique perfecting they quickly became my most popular item variety! Since then I now offer all my seed bead items as charm bracelets, rearview mirror charms, cell phone/3DS charms, hair clips, and pins at conventions! (I'm slowly updating my Etsy shop to include these varieties) I also make glass pendants with photos of popular pop culture images aaaaaand LIGHTSABER EARRINGS!!!
