About PlungerMonkeyDesigns

I'm sharing my art with the world, one torso at a time.

I have wanted to design and sell tshirts since high school, when our art class spent some time silk screening by hand, the old fashioned way. We would cut shapes out of this skunk-smelling green film (no idea what it was), tracing our artwork, that we would then adhere to a screen, and then squeegee ink through onto shirts. One of my first shirts was of a comic book character I had invented, and the notion that I could put my art on shirts and possibly sell it was born. After college, I was a bit directionless. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life other than some very vague ideas. I worked retail at a high end fashion store, then got married, had kids, and became a stay-at-home dad, which put any and all artistic ambitions on the back burner...for TEN years! It was mentally a difficult decade, but it was what I needed to find some direction. Once my kids were all in school, I started getting back into the studio regularly and working on my dreams again. Among many other pursuits, I remembered my dream of designing and selling tshirts. My brain was full of images and ideas, but I needed to figure out how to make them tangible. With the help of my amazing wife, I had begun working digitally, and she helped me find Etsy and the direct-to-garment printer/shipper Print Aura. I now had the path I was looking for. However, there was a steep learning curve (I'm not inherently a digital person. In fact, technology and I really don't play well together), there were a lot of business-type logistics that I struggled with (and procrastinated on). Basically, I set up an Etsy account, created 3 dozen designs, set things up with the direct to garment printer Print Aura...and then waited 3 or 4 years before making my next move. Now, I've finally gotten myself a PayPal account, uploaded all my art, synced up Print Aura with Etsy, shook off the uncertainty and fear, and I'm ready to get my designs on everyone!

I have been an aspiring artist since the age of 2, and among my many artistic ambitions is to wrap the torsos of the world in my art. The seeds of that particular dream were sewn back in high school, when I took my first crack at silk screening.
