Pohakanten Studios -->> Journals

I have always been fluid in dreaming, and avid in drawing/writing my dreams. When I was around 14, I made my first dream journal and have been making them ever since :)

For many years I only created journals for myself and friends...and then I went through a spell of not really making any at all.

In 2014 I decided to make journals again and recruited my youngest daughter to help, and learn. I have over 25 years experience in leather working, so decided to focus on leather soft bound journals. Why soft bound?? because it is easier to write dreams when the book can be opened to lay flat :)
Throughout the year we also had many customer requests for new styles and refillable journals...and now our interest is humming!! We have so many new images and ideas roaming around our minds that we cannot wait to make...

We have been having so much fun, that our main shop was becoming overwhelmed by journals...So we expanded this year to our new shop :)

Blogs and Reviews we have been featured in...

We were recently featured in Cloud Nine Studio Art's blog "How to turn your dreams into a color scheme"

I don't know what to say. I have been handcrafting for most of my life...everything from Metalwork to Beadwork ~Leather to Glass...and most everything I find in my hands inbetween. Images of new things to create stream into my mind..so I create them

***We live far from the post office, and will make the trip in to drop off all packages once or twice per week. Usually Mondays, and sometimes I make the second run in on Thursdays. This trip takes me hours, so I cannot go every day. I see in my feedback, people say either it was the fastest shipping they have ever seen, or they feel the shipping took too long. I hope this clarifies things for everyone.

All of our USA shipments are made via Standard USPS, with a tracking number, and insurance as needed.
If you prefer another shipping method, please contact us, and we can make arrangements with you.

International Shipping

I ship ALL international packages via USPS, with the CN-22 tracking information sent to you at the time of shipping. You or I, may track your package until it leaves the US. I cannot be responsible for packages lost or with held by customs in your country, and cannot replace these items.

If your package does not arrive, I will re-send the tracking information to you, and you will need to contact your customs office, to be sure it is not being held there. They may require a copy of your invoice, which I will gladly forward to you.

YOU are responsible for all Customs charges. Most packages go through fine with no additional cost, but every so often customs in Your country will add an import charge.

Refunds and Exchanges

All custom orders are final sales.

We do ask if anyone returns something, that they please send a detailed note with the item, letting us know why. Our craftmanship is very important to us, so we would like to know.
Also in the note, should be your name and your email address.

We do not generally give refunds, but we may consider it, depending on the situation.
Returned items will be considered as Store Credit typically.

Custom and personalized orders

We are currently Not accepting custom orders. I am sorry, but we are just too busy this year...

How do I know which size to get?

There are 4 basic TN sizes...
Standard, Personal, Field Notes, and Passport.

"Pocket Size" - simply means it can easily fit in a pocket and is subjective.
Mini - is not a typical TN size, so the few of us who make them do not use the same measurements.

Please fully read the description before purchasing! I have the size dimensions written for each item.

If you are not sure, please feel free to ask :) It is so much easier to talk before you purchase, than to try and sort things out after you receive a size you did not want.

And again READ the descriptions please :)

Do you sell Refill Inserts?

We have decided to only offer the refills for the Standard, Field Notes and Passport TN journals to customers who have purchased a journal at some point in the past. (or if you would like extras with a journal purchase)

Our reason for this, is that we make journals. Leatherwork and creating finished journals is our passion, and since they are universal sizes, there are many many shops who make and sell beautifully handcrafted refills.

If you have purchased a journal from us and prefer our inserts, please message us and we will gladly make a custom listing for you.

Thank you for your understanding on this :)
