About

Baubles and Bangles

When I was 19, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where I spent the next 20 years traveling, exploring the world, and pursuing crafting hobbies . After twenty years, I went back to college to receive a teaching degree for I believed that educating children was surely the next world to conquer. Teaching gave me the opportunity to apply my love of crafting into lesson plans and student projects in areas such as math, English and science. During that time, a dear friend introduced me to the art of bead work; it became my passion. After gifting my family with more homemade things than they could use, I branched out to craft shows which led to opening my own shop on Etsy. I learned about Etsy.com when placing items for sell in an antique/consignment shop. Taking that suggestion, my family and friends helped me pick the shop name, Polarbearkisses.com! How fitting for an Alaskan shop! Now I am retired again, so several times a year I take my crafts to bazaars and craft fairs enjoying the camaraderie of other obsessed crafters. During the winter months, though, I spend more time filling my Etsy.com shop with new items ready for the holidays, birthdays, and other special events. It is grand having my own on-line shop to display my wares and it is so exciting when one of my creations is purchased!

My Mother, who made pine needle baskets, has been my greatest inspiration when creating jewelry. Recently I was honored with a certificate of Authorization and Recognition as an Official Choctaw Registered Artist, by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
