"She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands..." Proverbs 31:13
Our farm is located in central Missouri. We run a cow/calf operation of angus cattle. The farm has been in my husband's family for over a hundred years, and at one time, the farm sustained over 400 sheep. As ownership has been passed down, cattle replaced the sheep.
After we were married, and came to live on the farm, I began dabbling in fiber art. I first learned how to crochet from my aunt. And then I learned to knit. I was exposed to beautiful yarn that was handspun, and it was all downhill for my husband after that! I was fascinated by the thick and thin yarn and loved the idea that I could create my own. I began taking classes and workshops and learned how to spin wool on a spinning wheel. Then I learned how to weave on a rigid heddle loom. I started dreaming about owning a little fiber flock to feed this addiction that was forming. In 2013, I reintroduced sheep back to our farm when we acquired American Miniature Cheviot sheep, Shetland sheep, and a crossbreed between the two called Shetliots.
As we continue to grow our flock, and I have more than enough wool to supply my needs, I will be offering yarn, wool, and finished products here. I also dabble in rural photography which I will also be offering in the future. So check back often! And visit us at www.littledixiefiber.com!
My husband and I run a small farm in Central Missouri where I raise a flock of registered Shetland Sheep, registered American Miniature Cheviot Sheep and a cross of the two breeds. I weave, knit and spin and I am a rural photographer.
I also raise a small flock of American Miniature Cheviot, and Shetland sheep on our farm. They all have names and their own personalities. They are such a delight to take care of and I can't imagine my life without them! That being said, fiber art has become very much an obsession for me (...according to my 9 year old daughter.) It all started with knitting, which lead into spinning yarn, dyeing wool, weaving... and finally acquiring my own endless wool supply.
I believe the act of creating brings a peace or stillness inside that an artist craves. Knitting and spinning for me does this, and it's even more amplified because my medium comes from my own animals, which I take care of and have an emotional attachment to. The fiber that runs through my hands to be spun up or knitted may come from an animal with which I was able to assist with being born into this world and I have watched them grow. There is nothing like it for me.
Why did I open an Etsy shop? Mainly to provide and share a representation of country living for those of us who have an appreciation for the simpler things in life or who long for that lifestyle. I can do this through the photographs I take. I can also do this by providing 100% American grown wool directly, from my farm to you.
I hope you enjoy looking at the images and fiber crafts that I've chosen to place out here. I would feel honored to have you like them enough to give them as a gift or hang them in your home. But even if you just add my shop as your favorite, or you like a particular print or skein, it gives me a extra motivation to keep this shop open.

When you purchase photographic prints from Little Dixie Fiber Co., you should have the satisfaction that all printed images will be from a reputable professional imaging lab. After I place the order, you will receive your print within 3-4 days, sometimes sooner. All the prints that you order will be printed on Kodak Professional Supra Endura VC Digital Paper which provides the accurate color, realistic saturation that I've intended for my images. With this paper don’t worry about prints fading. The standard archival value is 100 years in home display and 200 years in dark storage.
Yarns and Other Fiber Crafts:
I work hard to make sure my photos capture the color of my items accurately. However, monitors do differ and this may account for a difference in the photo and the actual item. All millspun yarn is from my sheep. Some of the handspun that I offer on here will either come from my sheep, or is from wool I purchased from other farmers. I will differentiate between them in the listing. Eventually, all handspun will come only from my sheep. I use mostly professional dyes on my yarns, but occasionally I have offered some natural dyed products using plants and nuts from our farm.
I accept payment via Paypal. Sales tax will be applied for Missouri residents.
If you decide to cancel an order:
For prints, please notify me within 2 hours of placing your order.
For other items, please notify me within 24 hours of placing your order.
Packaging is also guaranteed to keep your print safe. Shipping is normally through USPS Priority which is 2-5 business days and helps keep costs low for you. My customers normally receive their prints within 3 days of when I place the order. International shipping is available and is only done through FedEx if you want the same type of turnaround time directly from the lab. Unfortunately, the cost to ship from the lab is very high at $30 because they only use FedEx. However, if you decide you would like to order the print and are willing to wait longer than the 2-5 business days, I can have them ship it directly to me and I can resend it via USPS to eliminate the standard $30 shipping cost through FedEx. You would just need to convo me to have this arranged.
I will combine shipping to help you save money. I will choose the most cost effective route to ship your item to you.
