About

Why do people leave their dog's poop behind?

Shit Shamers started innocently enough in two very nice neighborhoods around Raleigh, NC. Both Jenni and Steph, in their respective hoods, made signs for rude neighbors just leaving their dog's shit behind. We've all done it - ran out of the last bag when your dog decides to take two shits during a walk. Come on dog, really!! But there are the owners that do it every single time, and it's disgusting.

So what happens when you don't pick up your pet's waste? Adults, children, and other dogs step in it for one. As if that weren't gross enough dog feces is as high as 3rd on the list of contributors to contaminated water. Dog feces may contain parvovirus, whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, threadworms, campylobacteriosis, giardia, and coccidia. When left these parasites will contaminate the water, soil, and
can even cause infection in both pets and humans. As the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Water Campaign puts it, "If you think picking up dog poop is unpleasant, try swimming in it."

We're really making light of a shitty situation, but leaving behind their poop is truly an environmental problem. So please think twice about leaving that turd behind, it only takes a second to pick it up!

  • Jenni K

    Owner, Designer

Jenni began shit shaming in 2014 at a townhouse neighborhood of Cary, NC. It started with a crudely made sign threatening to ignite poop on doorsteps, but that's unlawful. She now works for a print company and does the printing of our products.

  • Steph S

    Owner

Stephanie does her primary shit shaming in the cutest neighborhood of Holly Springs, NC. While they've both put out home-made signs, Steph created the term and act of "shit shaming". She's the brains of the name, and many of the signs we have today.
