The name of my shop pretty much sums up what I'm all about:
Poppies: I grew up on a farm that has been in my family for over a hundred years. My great grandma had planted poppies out front when she was raising her family there, and they were still re-seeding and blooming when I grew up there in the late 1960s. I can still remember picking them and being careful with the paper-thin petals so they wouldn't break.
In 1976 my family temporarily moved to a nearby farm my parents owned while the ancient farmhouse we lived in was torn down and a new one built in its' place. Guess what? There were orange poppies growing in our yard there also :). This property had belonged to our family several decades earlier.
Fast forward to the late 1980s when my husband and I were newly married and needing a place to live. That same farmland where I lived the summer of 1976 became our "homestead." A fire destroyed the old farmhouse that had been there, so we put up our own little Cape Cod house and eventually raised our girls there. Whenever I see a Poppy, it makes me think of my great-grandma planting those bright delicate flowers for her family, and the strong heritage with which I have been blessed. For me, family is everything.
Peanuts: A whimsical term that we have always used for our girls and other special "little people." I love crafting and shopping with little ones in mind, even though mine haven't been little for a long time. I hope you will find something special for your "peanut" in my little shop. I can guarantee you that it was made with love in mind.
Heritage is a special thing, and there will be times when you will find special "vintage" items with their own special history on this site. I believe every room in your home needs a special something with a legacy.
"Poppies" and "Peanuts" represent family, love, heritage, and endearment to me; everything in my shop will be tied to those traits in some manner. <3
My "peanuts" are all grown up; I love to create and sew with my newfound free time.
